SPECIAL MEDITATION & BLESSING OF NAMNANG MINGJO DORJE RINPOCHE
Please join us for a Special Cultivation Section of a New Series Reviewing the Essence of Namnang Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche's
"21 Classes on the Essential Points to Cultivating the Buddhist Path"
Wed, July 31st @ 7 pm - 9 pm
245 College Ave, Apt. C, Palo Alto
"Buddha discovered that when we look at the world around us, our view is very narrow. Even though we wish for happiness and wish to get away from the causes of suffering, we have no true idea what is true happiness and what is the suffering that we wish to get away from.
Buddha is worthy of our reverence, gratitude, and devotion because he spent lifetimes contemplating and enduring hardship and suffering, lifetimes of cultivating great meritorious endeavors (selfless acts of kindness and compassion) and contemplated and achieved wisdom, insight, and understanding on the nature of reality (the nature/reality/truth of existence) to attain the true complete happiness of mind, true awakening, Buddhahood. So all of his teachings are based on logic, are based on wisdom, understanding, and experience. Not based on liking and disliking, like a lot of our understanding of our life and existence is.
When we listen to the Dharma teachings and receive the direct blessing that has been passed from Buddha's mind (Buddha's direct experience and contemplation of the teaching) to his disciples and all the way down to the great masters of today, then it is like having a direct channel with the Buddha's mind quality. When we receive teachings from a Lama, they help first plough the soil of our mind, remove the rocks, debris (old negative concepts), and make our mind soil smooth, open, and easy to plant in. Then they plant the seed, the quality or essence of the Dharma, into your mind and give you the pure heart nectar of the Buddha's blessing to water that seed. They constantly give that seed in your mind the nutrition by giving you the contemplation and logic of their experience, helping you to think and make the roots of that seed grow deeper and stronger, and the good qualities of that seed to start to sprout up and appear in your own mind. Buddha and our teachers have immeasurable compassion and kindness for us."

"Our mind is like a lake with many layers of sand, silt, and mud in it. Some days the lake becomes more quiet and still, and the sand, silt, and mud remain still at the bottom, and the lake appears to be clear, doesn't have as much debris swirling around inside of it. We feel at peace, comfortable and happy. But as soon as some outer condition changes, the wind blows on the lake and the waves start to swirl around once again. The clarity of our lake to be still and able to reflect becomes distorted. And those lifetimes of causes (imprints of concepts, experiences, self-attachment, ignorance and karma), those grains of sand and mud, pollute the clear water once again.
How does the clear lake of our mind become filled with sand, mud, and debris?
For instance, when we come in contact with a rose, we see its beautiful shape and color, a brilliant orangy-red with subtle curves in a voluptuous full bloom. We smell its delightful fragrance. Hear the pleasant humming and buzzing of the bees gathering pollen from its insides. Taste the wafting smell of nectar on our tongue, and feel the touch of its soft petals as we slide our fingers over its petals. We feel a pleasant feeling from it. Feel that we like it. That it is good. Feel that being around it gives us some happiness. We distinguish all the pleasant characteristics of this flower as being pleasant and label it as the form of a rose with the experience of being pleasant, being good, creating happiness.
And so another grain of sand is placed in the lake of our mind. Each of these grains of sand is a concept, is an experience, is a cause that will have an effect, is a karma that will come to fruition. Each grain of sand (cause/karma) comes from what we see with our eyes, hear with our ears, smell with our nose, taste with our tongue, touch/feel with our body, and conceptualize with our gross 6th consciousness that thinks that these are true, and creates self-attachment to them (7th consciousness) that covers the true nature of our mind (the clear lake- the 8th consciousness-our Buddha Nature)."

Class 3 - "Special Meditation & Blessing: Importance of Stabilizing Our Merit"
Please join us as we:
Do a very special meditation practice helping us connect with Namnang Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche's blessings, the blessings of Shakyamuni Buddha and Manjushri Bodhisattva:
• Special chance to be able to increase and stabilize the positive power and potential of your mind
• Help us to remove the debris (the grains of sand- causes that contaminate the true essence of our mind)
• Feel lighter, have more stability and inner peace of mind, more clarity and insight to contemplate deeper about our lives and more positive power to make life transformations
Then we will discuss the following:
• What is karma? How does karma (your experiences- both positive & negative) imprint and store in your mind-stream? How does the ultimate pure essence of your mind become contaminated?
• How does Dharma (Buddha's Teachings) help us to reflect and contemplate about our life and give us insights and understanding of how to solve our problem? How do we generate more happiness and decrease/remove the suffering within our lives?
The special quality of Namnang Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche is that he will speak the truth to us, waking us up from our "comfortable" wrong concepts. He uses many skillful methods to get us to think, and look at the true situation of this life, of these many lives. He helps to guide us to see and contemplate about our life and the reality around us, and helps us not want to be numb in our minds and lives, but make them meaningful. To see the preciousness and wisdom of the Buddha's teachings and how this can truly help us.
He is very, very rare, very, very pure and true to how the Buddha taught. He uses skillful logic and contemplation to help us open our minds and dissolve our concepts (our liking and disliking thinking that blocks/busies the mind). You can see his pure quality, his care for his students and the sentient beings and his profound ability and accomplishments that makes the true essence of the Dharma come to life. He awakens the true magic and spirit of the pure Dharma and allows the great accomplishments of the past great masters to continue to exist in this world. There are very few like Rinpoche, so it is very special that we have the good karma to learn from him and receive his blessing.
