Shaberu Wednesday One Year Anniversary Celebration Potluck

Come join us and celebrate our Shaberu Wednesday One Year Anniversary. We're proud to have hosted week after week of interesting conversation, new friendships, improved Japanese and English language skills, and the consumption of various Asian foods (and drinks) all along Convoy Street. To commemorate the occasion, we're having a potluck on Sunday, August 23, 12:00PM, over at the Doyle Community Center.
This park is located along Regents Rd., not far from the UTC mall. Invite anyone along, as this event is open to all (just let us know about how many are coming in your RSVP, so we can plan accordingly). Even if you've never been to a Wednesday event before, you're more than welcome (and in fact especially encouraged) to join us. There is no entry fee, but if you come, you'll have to bring some food. And, hey, this is Japanese Meetup we're talking about, not just some random Sunday in the park, so let's bring good stuff. We don't want to have tables of chips, hotdogs, and bottles of soda, so how about things like musubi rolls, hamburg, karubi or chicken parts. Just use your imagination and make it interesting. I find it is always enjoyable to try food from people’s hometown. If you need help with ideas feel free to ask Mike F. We've got some activities planned, as well, such as Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball, Soccer and Roshambo. Hope to see you there, Your Japanese Meetup Organizers

Good times. Dodgeball was incredible to watch. The park had plenty of parking and was a good central location.

For anyone who is still looking for ideas on things to bring, here are two sites with some inspirations:

    http://japanesefood.about.com/library/ecommerce/aatp_japanesepotluck.htm
    http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/510450

Or stop by one of the Japanese markets in town (Nijiya, Mitsuwa, Marukai) and pick up some Japanese snacks (onigiri, shumai, gyoza, ...?)

You don't have to limit yourself to Japanese food, either. Got a family recipe you think we'll like? Bring it!

    Jya, ashita!

Why yes, if my brain server me right, this is the exact precise location where the JSA function materialized...from nothing.

If I remember correctly, this is where they had the JSA picnic a few months ago.
