CORE MEETING: Leadership and Planning

  • Dec 6, 2012 · 6:00 PM

NOTE: CHANGE OF DATE!!! Thursday December 6th, at 6:00 PM.

So sorry that we had to change our day to Thursday evening this time, folks.

Please comment below to add your ideas abut leadership and the directions of this group. We want to hear them.  Get in the action and help us co-lead and plan this amazing group of knowledgeable goofballs! (Our CORE meetups on the second Saturday of the month are always free, except for convergences.)

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE to participate in the leadership decisions that this group makes and shape its directions!

Agenda: (please add your comments/items to discuss for the agenda):

Leadership team. Who is in it, who does what? Everybody leads in this group, so please come forward and do your thing.

Next convergences, frequency, duration, size.  We had two convergences a year since we started.  Do we keep it this way? Who want to co-lead the next one towards the Fall of 2013?

Southern California Convergence updates.  Being developed right now.... exciting news!!!

Core meetups attendance/topics.  Currently CORE meetups are free (except convergences)  and on the second Saturday morning of the month.  Members volunteer to host such meetups.  Who is taking on the next ones?

Financials/money management, advertising on meetup, scholarships, sponsorships, partnerships, perks

Logo: Meet and greet our new logo, courtesy of Josh Robinson from the San Diego Sustainable Living Institute.  Thank you so much Josh!

Sellable items. Now that we have a logo, let's get to work! Book/t-shirts/mugs/seed bombs

Business entity: Non profit status, running San Diego Permaculture as a business?

Vision/Mission: Where do we want to take San Diego Permaculture in 1, 2, 5 years?

FYI I have vinyl cutters and a heat press for t-shirts.
As a non-profit or business it might be possible to do Farmers Markets.
Group members who produce a product or service could donate 10% to the group. It would be a good way to connect with the public and spread the knowledge.

Thanks Sherri, ccd you on an e-mail about those shirts.

    ello,
Do you think your attendees would increase if you change the time to 7pm? If one gets off work at 5 and spends 1 hour in CA traffic, he can barely make it. Vince

Thanks Vince! Will consider next time, Welcome, we hope to meet you soon :-)

Not going myself but suggest a change to a good restuarant with vegetarian OPTIONS. Like Veg'N Out they get to gouge people with the "vegetarian" stigma. 30% savings + better food should get no complaints from omnivores that fo. Check Yelp.com for good places to go. On Clmt Msa & Mercury is Pho Fusion which I go out of my way to. Just trying to help while resenting capitalism resulting from lack of knowledge.

Do you all know about the co-housing/eco-village/overall intentional communities meetup?! http://www.meetup.com/intentionalcomm-2 Can I share this event info with them?

    November 30, 2012

    • claudia F

Thanks so much for the info Mariah. Building eco-villages is one of the many things we'll discuss, not the top priority at this moment unless someone makes it so. Anybody can come to our meet ups! This meetup will specifically discuss current leadership in our Permaculture group and near-future projects.

I'm interested in learning more about co-housing, co-building, co-farming, eco-village in San Diego County.

    I would like to suggest

Pizzeria Luigi[masked]th Street, San Diego, CA

They serve pizza by the slice, take cas
h only and have a great outdoor dining
tables that could fit a lot of people. Its
in golden hills off the 5 and 94,

It is vegetarian, and they have salads and stuff, but i'm open to sipz, I'm just going to be fighting traffic so the closer to the highway the better.

I don't like to drive to Clairemont myself but it seems fairer to everybody for people coming from N. County. I think Sips Clairemont is perfect.

Did anyone ask those were signed up to go? I had made arrangements to get there Saturday. I cannot make it Thursday. I am disappointed so many of our leaders do not come on the regular core meetings. And even schedule overlapping events.

    November 29, 2012

    • Bob

Thank you Claudia. I sincerely apreciate your efforts as well as the efforts of many others in the group as well. Peace, and have a great day.

I have also been so busy with this meetup and other things that frankly I have not felt like driving across the county just to show up my face out of obligation. I would do that if I were an awesomely paid leader!! (Hint!) But, I envision that there will be lots of leaders here, and by law of numbers a few will be there.

Sorry guys, we had to change our Leadership meeting for this coming Thursday at 6 PM instead of Saturday. We want to meet in a more central location too. Anybody available? Want to go out to eat? Please propose a place. Your home? Your favorite hangout spot?

    November 29, 2012

    • claudia F

      Oops, geographically challenged.

Thanks, Alden, but I'll drive myself and combine errands. Thanks, Diane

I'd like to be involved in this, but I'm committed to something on the 8th.

    November 13, 2012

    • Diane Cynthia K.

Thanks! I'm interested particularly in the turning SDP into a business or NP part. I have things to offer, if they are wanted. Rats. I just can't make it that day.

Diane, tell us more, please. or you can e-mail me. cf

I am teaching all that weekend too (final permaculture course weekend!) and can't make it. Claudia, let's talk more before then and share some ideas. Want to meet up for some tea or coffee?
