San Diego Tea Meetup holds the first local participatory Wu-Wo Tea Ceremony at Halcyon Tea on July 8, 2012. Steven R. Jones, Wu-Wo Tea Ceremony Tea Master led off the event with a one-hour slide presentation on tea culture and the origin and purpose of Wu-Wo Tea Ceremony. This style of tea encourages fosters among the participants and non-verbal communication. There is not leader or speaking or restriction of the type of tea or style of tea preparation . The seating placements are determined by lottery and there is no limit to the number of possible participants as long as there is space for them. Each participant brings everything necessary to serve themselves and the thee people to their left, including tea and hot water. There is no prescribed clothing or hierarchy. It is meditative yet physically active and community-building.
