Let's do the Ichetucknee before it opens up to tubers! Join us for a Wednesday kayak trip on the Ichetucknee River. This is a short trip of about 3 hours. We can grab a late lunch in High Springs on the way home.
This will be a lazy float, paddling mostly to steer with the fast current. We'll stop in the middle for a leg stretch/snack break and some wading/swimming, so this is a pretty good trip for newbie kayakers.
Bring a shady hat, lots of water, sunscreen and snacks. Dress for the weather. We won't cancel except in case of thunderstorms or all-day rain.
NOTE: The Ich is a non-disposable river. Bring water in nalgene or bicycle-type bottles and snacks in tupperware-style containers.
NOTE: We will be meeting at the boat launch at the NORTH entrance to the park. (NOT the main park entrance off US 27) From Fort White take SR 47 north 2.2 miles to CR 238. Take CR 238 west about 3 miles to the park entrance.
State Park entrance fees apply. Bring CASH or State Park pass.
If you need to rent a kayak you can make your own arrangements with Paddling Adventures right there at the canoe launch. You don't need to make arrangements in advance. Rentals run $20 + tax for a single kayak and that includes your shuttle back to your car. DO NOT CONTACT ME TO ARRANGE FOR RENTALS, you need to work directly with the outfitter when you get there.
For those of us with our own kayaks, the outfitter will transport us back to our cars for $5 then we can drive back down to get our kayaks. I do not recommend using them to transport your personal kayaks, but they will do so for an additional $7.
