Menorca Walking Holiday
Saturday 12 October-Saturday 19 October 2019.

This is a walking holiday on the island of Menorca based in the resort of Cala Galdana.

Briefing

This will take place on the main beach at Cala Galdana next to the Bar Restaurante Aquario at 18:00 on Saturday 12th.

The Walk Itinerary

There will be a coach to the walk start and end points most days. The led walks are as follows:

Walk 1
Virgin Beaches Walk - Son Xoriguer to Cala Galdana (Linear)
Sunday, October 13.

9.5 miles. Moderate.
Total Ascent: Approx. 250 metres.
There will be a coach to the start point at Son Xoriguer.
Cami de Cavalls Stages: 12 (partial) & 13.

Beach Bar stop at Bar Suzy at Cala Macarella.
Coach start time from the hotel: 09.30.
Walk start time: 10.15.
Walk finish time: Approx. 17.00.

This straightforward walk will visit some of the most beautiful unspoilt coves to the west of Cala Galdana.

Walk 2
Sa Mesquida – Es Grau - Favoritx Lighthouse (Linear)
Monday, October 14

9 miles. Moderate.
Total ascent: Approx. 350 metres.
There is a coach to the start point and from the finish point.
Cami de Cavalls Stages: 1 (partial) & 2.
Restaurant stop at Es Grau village.
Coach start time from the hotel: 09.30.
Walk start time: 10.15.
Walk finish time: 17.30.
Return to resort: Approx. 18:15.

A beautiful linear walk on the eastern coast of the island.

Walk 3
Cavalleria to Cala Pilar (Linear)
Tuesday, October 15

10 miles. Moderate. 3 moderate ascents.
Total ascent: Approx. 500 metres - mostly in the 3 moderate ascents. Otherwise relatively flat.
There is a coach to the start point and back from the finish point.
This is probably the best coastal walk on the island.
Cami de Cavalls Stages: 5 (partial), 6 & 7 (partial).
Coach start time from the hotel: 09:00.
Walk start time: 09:45.
Walk finish time: 18:00.
Return to resort: Approx. 18:30.

This is a linear walk along the remote, spectacular, rugged north coast of the island.

Walk 4
Cala Pilar to Cala Morrel (Linear)
Wednesday, October 16

9.5 miles. Moderate.
Ascent: Approx. 300 metres.
There is a coach to the start point and back from the finish point.
Cami de Cavalls Stages: 7 (partial) & 8.
Coach start time from the hotel: 09:30.
Walk start time: 10:00.
Walk finish time: 17:30.
Return to resort: Approx. 18:00.

Another stunning coastal walk starting with an extended forest section before arriving at the impressively wide bay of Algaiarens, and then following the cliff-top path to Cala Morell.

Walk 5
Cala Galdana, Binigaus and more Virgin Beaches
Thursday, October 17

Long Walk: 12 miles Moderate (Circular). Contains virgin beaches.
Short Walk: 7 miles Moderate (Linear). Cala Galdana to Sant Tomas. Coach back from Sant Tomas. No virgin beaches.
Ascent: Approx. 250 metres (7-mile walk); 450 metres (12-mile walk).
Cami de Cavalls Stage: 14.
We start from Cala Galdana on foot: 09:00.
The return coach pickup for the short walk is from the car park outside the Es Bruc restaurant in Sant Tomas at 15:00.
Return to Resort: Approx 18:00 (long walk); 15:30 (short walk).

First, we climb onto the limestone Migjorn plateau, which is traversed by deep crevices, and cross over several streams. For the longer walk, we return along the coast path, ‘El Literol’.

Walk 6
Es Migjorn Gran to Son Bou (includes the impressively huge Cova des Coloms cave)
Friday, October 18

7.5 miles. Moderate.
Ascent: Approx 150 metres.
Cami de Cavalls Stage: 15.
Beach Bar stop at the Es Bruc bar/restaurant in Sant Tomas
Start time from the hotel: 09:30
Walk start time: 10:00
Walk finish time: Approx 15:00 in Son Bou
We then have 2 hours on Son Bou beach or you can enjoy a drink in one of the beach bars or walk around the resort.
Coach return time: 17:00
Return to resort: Approx. 17:45

From Es Migjorn Gran we walk to the nearby cathedral-like cave of Cova des Coloms and then onwards to Son Bou.
