Sun 11 August[masked]:00 - 8.0 miles/12.9 km - Leisurely (Finishes 15:30 approx.)
Henley-in-Arden and Lowsonford, Warwickshire
Starts at 10:00: Free parking at Prince Harry Road car park, off Warwick Road (A4189), Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire. 33 miles from West Bromwich. (B95 5GD, SP151658)
There is a pleasing variety of Warwickshire countryside on this walk to the east of Henley-in-Arden, including farmland and woodland. Expect about twenty stiles and lots of butterflies.
To start, we walk over the River Alne to Preston Bagot Church for a drink stop. We then continue over the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal to Yarningale Common. It is then north to the Fleur de Lys Inn in Lowsonford so named after an English spy returned to England in a pie! We return on the Heart of England Way finishing over Beaudesert Mount, the remains of a 13th century motte-and-bailey castle. There are tea shops and pubs on the High Street if you would like to linger after the walk.
We give a warm welcome to new members and also to members of other Ramblers groups.
