Santa BarbaraCountyResource Recovery and Waste Management will provide a free and eye-opening field trip to learn about Tajiguas Landfill history, waste diversion and environmental issues. Sam Dickinson, program specialist will share with us exciting information about how garbage gas, methane is used for electricity. You will see where your green waste goes and what happens to this material.In addition, he will discuss the County's composting program and how we can participate.

Directions: The Tajiguas Landfill is located 26 miles from Santa Barbara City Center. Although the address is at 14470 Calle Real, map programs won't get you there.
Four miles past Refugio State Beach on Highway 101, is the turnoff which is unlabeled on the right hand side after a lone pine tree. We will meet there.
Sam will also be presenting a public Backyard Composting Workshop at the Santa Barbara City College Garden on Saturday June 1 from 10-11:30 am.
