  • The days are shorter and the nights are longer.. it's that perfect time of year for star trails! We will be going to Piedra Blanca in Ojai. Please note that this meetup will include a tiny bit of a hike into the location where we will be shooting. We should carpool to Ojai to make it easier and less environmentally impactful. We also want to arrive at the location before sun sets so we can easily set up our gear for long exposures. All that being said, let's meet at the Santa Barbara Mission at 3:30pm to get to the location around 4:30pm(ish).. and hike in together. For Piedra Blanca: The turnoff to Piedra Blanca (via Rose Valley Rd) is about 14 miles from the city of Ojai, along Highway 33. Map quest says 1 hour, 9 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. After you turn onto Rose Valley Rd, it's another 4 miles to the trailhead.

From the trailhead, you can reach the rocks in about 20 minutes of brisk walking. Please let me know if you have any questions!
