• Dare to Pair VII - Wine/Food Pairing Event !

Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard / Quinta Cruz

    $80.00

We are going to do it again! Our 7th year in a row as a group to this event! Come enjoy a day out with the Cabrillo's culinary students as they work with the local swift street area wine makers to create delicious food pairings. This is a great value for the quality and quantity of food and wine you will experience. Our group will take part in voting for the best wine, best food and best pairing. We will start by walking around to each of the wineries on the west side of Santa Cruz, tasting the food/wine creation and then we meet at rewards ceremony area. The results are announced at the after party / rewards ceremony where we drink more wine, dance to some live music and socialize as a group. I am asking for $80 per person if you pay on through this site (to cover my transnational fees).. or I will offer you to pay me $75 (my cost) if pay directly using paypal at this link https://www.paypal.me/SCMWT/75 Whatever is easier for you.. Looking forward to another great event this year.. Our 6th year as a group attending this great event. PS>; if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at [masked] Robert LaRiviere

  • Hop 'N Vine Festival !

    Santa Clara County Fair

Entrance fee gets you a glass and some drink tickets. Hosts walk around with free food bites all day to pair with your wine tasting. The group can walk around to various wine and beer venues, meet the owners and winemakers(beer makers) at each of the booths and enjoy a good amount of wine, while socializing with the group and meeting other SCMWT members. There are also fun games, live music, stuff for sale and some seminars on beer and wine making to be enjoyed. There were tickets at the door last year for more money, but as this event repeats each year, it is possible that door tickets maybe gone. You can purchase tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/3rd-annual-hop-n-vine-festival-market-tickets-50239598993 IMPORTANT: Please do NOT RSVP to this event unless you bought your ticket. It is very hard for the host to coordinate attendees and make sure everyone finds the group. They spend extra time to make sure everyone meets the others in the group.

  • South Santa Cruz County Wine Bus Tour

Safeway in Scotts Valley Shopping Center

    $55.00

Transportation will be provided to and from Scotts Valley (possibly Los Gatos depending on our numbers) to the South Santa Cruz County wineries. We will visit the following wineries: Kissed by an Angel (at the winery) Integrity Anatum Sante Arcangeli SKOV Discover new wines and new experiences. Many of the wineries on the itinerary will accept SCMWA passports or have moderate tasting fees ($10 average with purchases waiving testing fees), but there is one special winery with a $25 dollar special tasting fee. They do waive the fee for a bottle of their wine. We will work as a group, using our purchases, to ensure as many of the tasting fees are waived for everyone as possible. NOTE: I have reduced priced passports for sale. Email me or message me for details - passports pay for themselves after the first 4 wineries. We will do a potluck style lunch at our 3PM winery. There will be a $55 fee per person for the transportation. This includes van, driver and driver's tip (driver's phone number is extra!).

  • Wine Making: Picking grapes with lunch/wine (Sunday)

    Winery in Gilroy

Local winery needs help picking and sorting grapes. They provide lunch as well as wine (sometimes Bloody Marys and/or Mimosas are a possibility in the morning but there is also muffins/coffee as well to start the day). The lunch for Sunday is as follows: Breakfast Burrito Bar There are two main activities: picking and sorting Picking is gathering the grape clusters in the vineyard. We supply curved knives designed for harvesting grapes, although some folks prefer to bring pruning shears. Your choice. If using a knife, having a glove for the non-knife holding hand is not a bad idea. Sorting is done at the crush pad and involves inspecting the fruit that was harvested for leaves and any other not-so-pretty things. Gloves are not a bad idea here as well, though probably something lighter duty as you don't have to worry about sharp knives. As far as clothes, wear something you don't mind getting dirty, and a couple of layers you can peel off as things warm up. Hats are good. Mostly this is about having a good time with wonderful folks around you. We look forward to sharing the day with you. Winery, directions and details (including waiver) will be sent out to those that RSVP. There is a limit of 15 spots !

  • Cross AVA Blind Pinot Tasting served with appetizers !

    Private Residence

    $55.00

This special event features some of my personally hunted Pinot Noir wines over the years on the winery travels. We will taste each of the wines blind and do a UC Davis analysis of each. This will help each of us identify the characteristic of each wine and later, after putting our sheets together, identify some of the common Terroir characteristics for each AVA. After the blind tasting, we will move into a social hour where we can enjoy each other's company over some of appetizers prepared by the hosts. We share our stories, meet new people and discuss what we thought of the different wines we just tasted.
