BAY AREA POLY COLLECTIVE
The Meetup group Bay Area Poly Collective is a free, one-stop clearinghouse on which any and all polyamory groups in the San Francisco Bay area may post event announcements. Santa Cruz Polyamory has historically posted and will continue to post its event announcements on the Bay Area Poly Collective. Here is a link to join:

ONLINE PRIVACY: BOTH NAME AND PHOTO
This Santa Cruz Polyamory Meetup group is a private, closed group, such that members' names, photo icons, and group discussions do not appear in either general internet searches or Meetup searches. But, both the Bay Area Poly Collective and Santa Cruz Polyamory Events are public, open groups, and members' names, photo icons, and discussions do appear in general internet searches, and Meetup and Facebook searches respectively. However, members may change their account settings to remain private.
The ongoing development of sophisticated facial recognition technology means that in order to protect ones' privacy one must exercise good judgement about what facial photos one uses online, and how one uses them (e.g. public or private), in addition to what names one uses online, and how one uses them. For example, a Google Images search enables members of the general public to enter a face photo and search for matching and similar photos online, and Clearview AI has amassed a facial recognition database of 3 billion persons by scraping their faces from Facebook, YouTube, and millions of other websites [1, 2].
While this Santa Cruz Polyamory group on Meetup has required members to use a last name or initial, the Bay Area Poly Collective does not. As Meetup says, "Your Meetup account has one default account name for all groups you're a member of." Here is a link to instructions on how to change your Meetup account name:
Unlike names, Meetup does allow account holders to use different photos in different groups. And the Bay Area Poly Collective does not require a photo. Here is a link to instructions on how to change your Meetup account photo, or your group photo:
