Public Group

This group is an extension of the Sarasota Mindfulness Institute: www.SarasotaMindfulness.org (http://sarasotamindfulness.org).

We have twice weekly guided meditation sessions: Wednesdays, 6-7:00 pm, Fridays and noon-1 pm.

Mindfulness meditation may be relaxing, but it is not a "relaxation technique." There are methods which are utilized to nurture stabilizing (not controlling) the mind - but the techniques or methods aren't themselves "mindfulness." If you come to the group a few times, you'll start to know what this means!

This is a time when we meditate together & discuss mindfulness concepts and the "inner space" of our own meditation experiences. Please come w/ beginner's mind! We also read & discuss a book together - in 2017, we'll be getting into Joko Beck's "Nothing Special". (Please come whether you are reading the book or not!)

We offer an Introduction 4-week class intended as a basic introduction to mindfulness meditation – we’ll help you with finding a good sitting posture, how to deal with an active mind, what to expect when coming to our drop-in meditation groups, and why a mindfulness practice might be helpful, and other questions of yours!

We also regularly schedule 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction classes. This class is affordable & may very well be life-changing. An Introduction to Mindfulness class

A variety of Mindful Movement classes - qigong and Tai Chi easy are scheduled at the church.

If you feel depressed, anxious or stressed, we can teach you to be in a new relationship with your mind, one that will support happiness and equanimity.
