I can think of no better place than Crowley Nature Center than to hold a course that is all about being conscious of the natural world and our own design process in relation to that. There is so much opportunity for interaction with nature on this 190 acre site with a number of unique ecosystems like a maple swamp (leaves are just now turning - so beautiful).   for more info about the nature center.

The Permaculture Design Course will include a wild edibles and nature awareness walk, wilderness survival training, hands on food forestry and aquaculture/aquaponics, and many other hands on activities that this venue facilitates beautifully. The camp site is welcoming, open but protected from elements, and right next to one of the prettiest trails in the park.

There is a really nice Farmer's Market there Sat AM from 9-2, with goat milk cheese, cottage cheese, fresh baked breads, all kinds of fruits and veggies, etc. There is a kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, and we'll have a propane or hot plate stove there.  The site is in the process of becoming a fully sustainable demonstration site and there are so many creative opportunities for design there.

This class is shaping up to be an interesting one, with a diversity of groups coming together, determined to change their communities and with a wide variety of skill sets.  Strong dynamics!  Which we intend to capture in the system somehow to make even stronger :-)  It's so great to see so much young energy looking to make changes and willing to become expert in the means necessary to bring those about.

If you're interested in this course or any aspect of it, but can't do the whole thing right now, we are offering each weekend as an independent pod. The nature awareness, design intensive and gardening weekends are the most popular (first three weekends). If you take just one weekend, that tuition will be applied to any future design course given by the Permaculture Guild.

Best, Cory
