Hello Fellow hikers, Merry Christmas to everyone and hoping that if someone came down your chimney was to leave you gifts and not to take them away, as is the case in my neighborhood, but that's another story for another time.

This will be our last hike for 2014, a great year it has been for appreciating nature, meeting great people and taking care of our bodies and minds. I figured that we could pay a visit to one of the most famous landmarks in the world, one that watches over us all year round and it is the symbol, for many, of the American dream. This Saturday morning we'll hike up to the Hollywood sign where we'll see it from the top and back, with only one fence separating us from it. This will be another great chance to see the LA basin and contemplate the wonderful dreams we are all going to achieve in 2015. We'll have a toast (water only please) for the year that is leaving us and for the new year that is upon us.

Most of the world is used to seeing photos of the Hollywood sign from the front, we are lucky enough to come just a few feet from it from the back. If you haven't been up there yet you couldn't imagine how amazing it is. I have been there many times and I always get emotional, please bring a box of klinex and a violin...

This is a great way to start your weekend and be around friendly people. Get up and join us for a great hike, you won't be disappointed.

It should take us around 2.5 to 3 hours to complete the whole trek, depending on the breaks we take.

Please bring plenty of water and some light and healthy snacks to share with the group. Also bring your cameras as it is a great spot to take photos.

DIRECTIONS:
From the 5 South, take the Los Feliz Avenue WEST exit.
Take Los Feliz all the way to the end and it will turn into Western.
Continue on Western and then turn right on Franklin.
Turn Right on Canyon Drive and go all the way to the very end.

After you enter the park, park on the big parking lot to your right and then walk up to the trail head, which is just a few yards away. We'll meet by the entrance gate.

Please get there a few minutes earlier so we can stretch and be on our way.

Any heavy rain Friday night or Sat morning will cancel this hike.
