This two-day Certified Scrum Master training provides the learning and experience required to lead, participate in, or sponsor Scrum initiatives in your organization. Through a combination of immersive team-based learning, exercises and real-world case studies, you will learn how to:

• Plan, initiate, and lead a Scrum project

• Establish a shared vision for the entire team

• Generate an agile release plan utilizing user stories and story point estimation

• Lead your Scrum team through planning, review, and retrospective sessions (AARs)

• Create an environment in which self-managing teams can flourish

• Identify, enroll, and engage business stakeholders in your project

• Leverage Scrum practices for research, hardware/non-software, and manufacturing environments

This course will focus on the following topics:

Day 1: Thursday, November 17, 2016:

Comparative analysis of Waterfall and Scrum processes, Overview of Agile and Scrum key principles, Deep dive on Scrum practices, ceremonies, and artifacts, Deep dive on Scrum Master and Product Owner roles, Retrospective planning and execution

Day 2: Friday, November 18, 2016:

Building a product backlog with user stories, Estimation and planning, Scrum simulation

Faculty:

The Center for Corporate Education partners with industry experts Berkana Enterprise Consulting (http://becteam.com/) (BEC) to deliver agile curriculum. BEC is a management and technology consulting company that provides services to organizations from Fortune 500 companies to individual proprietorships for improvement of systems and processes. Their expertise includes Lean|Agile product delivery and training, IT and business process improvement, programs and project management, and leadership coaching. Faculty lead for this Certified Scrum Master Course is BEC team member Mark Pushinsky.

Mark Pushinsky

Mark Pushinsky, BEC team member, is an agile coach, trainer, and consultant whose broad experience in business management and team dynamics enable him to create breakthrough results for his clients and their companies. As a Certified Scrum Trainer, Pushinsky has led and supported 100+ agile projects and has trained over 2000 Certified Scrum Masters around the world. Pushinsky is skilled at helping teams and executives through Agile implementation to Scrum process execution and at assisting large-scale enterprise adoption through assessment, strategic planning, and executive coaching. He has seen numerous failures and developed a keen sense of the project environments that are ready to accept the change and transparency that an agile process demands.

With experience as Director of Product Management at a financial services company, Pushinsky put his training and theory into practice leading a large-scale software development shop. His accountability spanned from long-term strategic planning to execution and deployment. His team supported a 15,000+ user base in a fast-paced customer servicing environment. A former NCAA Division 1A football player, Pushinsky's deep understanding of leadership and dynamics in high-performing teams has helped him design and deliver high impact Scrum training for local and distributed teams of various sizes.

Pushinsky holds a an MBA from the Darden School of Business, a master's degree in Information Technology Management from the University of Virginia, and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from William & Mary.

Adam Beck

Adam Beck, BEC co-founder, is passionate about developing people and systems that create great organizations. His work as a corporate transformation consultant spans 20+ years in project, program and portfolio management with over half of that leading and coaching Agile teams. He has led and currently leads enterprise-wide Lean|Agile adoption initiatives for Fortune 100 financial, telecommunications, manufacturing and government clients.

Beck was instrumental in the early adoption of Kanban in large, multi-team programs as well as a contributor in the first Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) implementations. His leadership introducing lean|agile methods has resulted in a remarkable list of successes for both new and previously-struggling multi-team Lean|Agile customers.

Beck holds a Masters in IT Management from the University of Virginia and a BBA from William & Mary.
