OddballSportsTV - A Real-World Computer Vision Design Case Study

This event is hosted jointly with the IEEE. Please register through this link: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/255230 FYI, David's talk will last roughly 1 hour ========================== David is engineering a computer vision system for OddballSportsTV to augment their livestream and post-production events with automated scoring, annotations, statistics, and more. David will discuss the project background, design consideration and trade-offs, current challenges, future plans, and a call for collaboration. The presentation will include a Python and OpenCV code walkthrough in a Colab Jupyter Notebook. Time permitting, a live scale model of the application will be demonstrated. Oddball Sports is a multimedia platform covering the wide world of odd, niche and high-growth sports. Oddball covers these sports and communities with storytelling and original content, with an emphasis on video production. American Bocce Co. promo Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club - Championships Biography: David Hoffman has authored or co-authored over 170 tutorials and one 3-volume book on computer vision and deep learning with PyImageSearch. He has been an IEEE Member since 2006 and has over 9 years of experience working in private and government sectors. David’s passion for computer vision began at NC State University, where he and other members of their Underwater Robotics Club developed autonomous submarine robots that navigated with sensors including cameras, hydrophone arrays, sonar, and inertial measurement units. David attended East Carolina University for his graduate education where his research involved using computing clusters to perform high-performance image processing at scale. Currently, David serves on the technical advisory board for AccuTennis, is building a computer vision based system for OddballSportsTV, and is working with educational organizations to share his knowledge in computer vision.
