What we're about

Please note: Our meetups & workshops are advertised on facebook & our website (esotericbookshop.com.au) as well as here ... so number of people shown as going here only represents School of Magic members.

The School of Magick is a place where magical-minded people can come learn and practise the esoteric arts.

The Esoteric Bookshop and the Coven of the Eternal Goddess have teamed up to create this mixed-gender magical group. This group will give both women and men the chance to come along and explore ritual and ceremony, spellcraft, invocation, magical herblore, the Wheel of the Year, meditation, and the psychic arts in a friendly and comfortable environment.

INVOCATION/EVOCATION Magic Workshop

The Magic Cottage (Julie & David's Place)

INVOCATION/EVOCATION Magic Workshop To see what we're currently doing head over to our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/132259014295586/ you can ask to be a member. The ultimate aim of the ‘Great Work’ is the Knowledge & Conversation of your Holy Guardian Angel. Although many people think they are already talking to their ‘guardian angel(s)’, they’re probably not. Through the work of William Bloom & others, we now know that we attract spirits (not dead people) to us depending on what we’re doing. These are very helpful, (if we actually talk to them – they don’t do much if we don’t). But to actually communicate with your Holy Guardian Angel is a profound experience that is both life-changing and infinitely rewarding. However, it’s not easy; and to do this requires much effort as you have to be able to let go of all your preconceptions about this and every other world. Invocation/Evocation Magic (also known as Ceremonial, Ritual or High Magic) is a personal conversation between the magician, the universe and the spirit(s) with whom he/she is developing a relationship. This workshop, then, is an uncommon opportunity to get an insight into this form of magic. It is quite hard to find anyone practicing ceremonial or ritual magic and even harder to find anyone willing to share their experience. These workshops are open to anyone that wishes to come along; and at which we will be exploring, in a hands-on fashion (in other words, you get to do some of the conjuration – if you wish – or you can just sit and observe) the invocation and evocation of angels, planetary spirits, elementals, etc. Bring robes & tools if you have them. Otherwise, just come along anyway … When: Tuesday 15th October Time: 7pm to 9pm; or until work is finished (which could be very late, especially if you’re using public transport). Cost: $20 Where: 130 Boronia Rd., Vermont, Melbourne 3133 Contact: David[masked], or email [masked] http://www.esotericbookshop.com.au/new/news/info_page.php/16/677

HERMETIC ORDER of the RED DRAGON

The Magic Cottage (Julie & David's Place)

INITIATED MEMBERS ONLY The Hermetic Order of the Red Dragon (HORD) is a ceremonial magic group that evolved from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (GD). There are several significant differences in the workings of HORD from the original GD. For instance, initiates in the GD didn’t begin their magical training until they had made their way through the elemental grades and had been initiated as adepts; which could mean a wait of five years or more. Also, GD members met as a group only to initiate new members or elevate members to higher degrees; adepts worked alone or in small groups. This idea was first challenged in the Weston-Super-Mare temple of the GD where it was felt that practical magical training should start immediately, and this was put into practice in the original HORD, an offshoot of the Weston-Super-Mare temple. This idea is being developed even further in Australia by an Adept of the original HORD where the ritual and magical training begins at Zelator Grade (1st degree) and members work together as a group, as well as alone. This, essentially, allows us to ‘workshop’ rituals and workings and create an atmosphere where all members, no matter their level of knowledge or experience, can contribute, valuably, to the group, from the start. Prospective members are required to attend a minimum of three Playing with the Universe and/or Invocation Workshops and be sponsored by an existing member before being considered for initiation. Calendar: We usually meet regularly on the third or fourth Tuesday of the Month with extraordinary meetings scheduled when appropriate. Contact me for more information or clarification.
