  • Synopsis (via Goodreads): "It's influenced William Gibson and been listed as one of the ten essential works of science fiction. Most importantly, Joanna Russ's THE FEMALE MAN is a suspenseful, surprising and darkly witty chronicle of what happens when Jeannine, Janet, Joanna, and Jael--four alternative selves from drastically different realities--meet. It's randomocracy time again! To select our final read of the year, please bring ONE book suggestion to the November 21st meeting. The winner will be chosen at random."

That's really strange.. I just finished reading this intense I'm also rereading a fascinating mix of 'lit crit' & radical postmodern sociology, "Demand the Impossible: Science Fiction and the utopian imagination' by Tom Moylan. He devotes a chapter & gives a good summary of Female Man in case you get to the end and wondered what happened :D... it's really a feminist rant/prose poem in the guise of a narrative... email me at [masked] if you are have trouble getting it.

I just ordered a copy from Amazon. I read fast so I can lend it out to someone if need be.

Just a note that this book is not available on ebook or audio. Not sure what the local used bookstores have in stock, but the Madison library system only has two copies. If you have trouble getting ahold of this one, please post a comment and I or another member will hopefully be able to lend you one. :)
