Solicitation for out-of-group trips, training, for-profit, or non-profit endeavors is not allowed by members, their guests, or outside entities.

You must bring your certification card with you to all dive events this group facilitates.

  • You must have a picture of yourself in your profile (where your face is plainly visible). This helps us know you better and prevent (somewhat) malicious/fake profiles (and their owners) from joining our group.

  • You must be a certified scuba diver (via a nationally/internationally recognized agency) to be a member of this group.

  • No spamming or soliciting is allowed on this group... either through the message boards, direct emails to members, or to members attending a group function. This includes (but is not limited to): Advertising for outside trips, shops, boats, instruction, clubs, groups, or any other money-making or non-profit endeavor.

  • Member must abide by this groups rules regarding "no shows" and RSVPing for boat trips: http://www.meetup.com...

The president of this organization reserves the right to delete anyone from the group for whatever reasons deemed by him (or her) to be appropriate. These reasons include (but are not limited to): Impoliteness, abusive behavior, spamming, solicitation, sabotage, and other behaviors counter to the well-being of the group.

POACHING: Poachers (or anyone breaking any other law) will be summarily removed and banned from the group... and authorities will be notified. Power Scuba has zero tolerance for any illegal activity... ESPECIALLY poaching.

PICTURES: By posting pictures to Power Scuba, member retains the full rights to said pictures, but hereby grants Power Scuba the right to use any of the pics in promoting events and issues having to do with the group.

CLARIFICATION: The dive events this group attends are not "group dives". Bill Powers (or any other officer, board member, or organizer) does not lead a group who follows along on a dive. That's not the intent of this organization. Power Scuba exists to 1)facilitate members meeting at dive events 2)form, cooperatively, a "buying block" so the group may get good prices on trips, dive boats, etc and 3)serve as a voice (and gathering point) for non-consumptive divers. At events members may meet, talk, share information, team up as buddy pairs (singles are free to pair up as they wish), then conduct dives in buddy teams wherever they might like to go (within their personal limitations and abilities). Power Scuba does not stick together underwater as a single unit. Conditions (visibility) and liability do not allow for that.

DISCLAIMER: The dive trips and meetings for this organization, Power Scuba, are in no way connected with any commercial enterprise nor employees of the same. Bill Powers (or any other board member, officer, or organizer) will not be leading any water portion (dives) for any event nor does he (or any other board member, officer, or organizer) assume any responsibility for the safety of any participants. Event organizers simply facilitate the gathering of people at the appointed meeting spot. It is understood, by accepting this invitation to meet, each participant acknowledges he/she is solely responsible for their own safety and waives all rights (as well as the right for a representative or family member to sue/litigate on their behalf) in regards to any form of legal action against Bill Powers (or any other board member, officer, or organizer). Participant affirms and acknowledges that in regards to these meetup events: No professional or teaching relationship exists (either real or implied) between participant and Bill Powers (or any other board member, officer, or organizer)... except in the case of offered "Scuba Refresher" classes (run by independent DMs or instructors).

Each participant affirms they will not dive beyond their personal limits/capabilities. Participant also affirms they are well-versed and knowledgeable (in a practical way) in the skill set(s) for their particular level of certification. Each participant affirms they are in good physical health and have no significant medical conditions that would counter-indicate scuba diving. Participant also affirms their medical status has not changed since their last certification course medical history was filled out by them. Participants also acknowledge that diving is an inherently dangerous sport and that they must: 1)always be accompanied by a certified dive buddy 2)follow all safety precautions (as put forth by the major scuba agencies: PADI, NAUI, YMCA, etc), and 3)fully accept all risks inherent to the sport.

REFUNDS: Each participant affirms they agree to the group refund policy for boat trips, camping trips, and all other Power Scuba events requiring a financial transaction. That blanket policy is this: All refunds will have a 9% admin fee and .31 Paypal fee taken out before the money is refunded... regardless of the reason for refund.

LIABILITY RELEASE: Each participant affirms they will read, sign, and submit a liability release before attending any Power Scuba event: http://files.meetup.c...

Agreeing to meet up for any dive this group facilitates reflects attendee's acceptance of the above terms and conditions.

REPRESENTATION: Member also agrees to be represented by a duly authorized Power Scuba representative(s) in all things pertaining to group (club) business including, but not limited to:

  • Environmental issues (as per this groups mission statement).
  • Diving-related matters that influence or have an impact on the group or its members.
  • Requests by media, politicians, or other entities for comment or position statements.
Member also agrees not to present themselves as a Power Scuba member whilst giving opinions on issues or position statements to the news media, on-line forums or blogs, public gatherings, or state/local entities without first receiving authorization from the Power Scuba President or Board of Directors.
