The Ten Commandments (of RSVPing)

  • Thou shalt RSVP early in order to guarantee a spot.
  • Thou shalt not RSVP "Yes" unless thou truly means "Yes".
  • Thou shalt not use a "Yes" RSVP as a PLACEHOLDER.
  • Thou shalt appropriately change the RSVP response... IMMEDIATELY... if thou encounters changed plans so that others may have a chance at your spot.
  • Thou shalt not pay any price other than the price stated on the event page unless EXPRESSLY directed to do so by the event organizer.
  • Thou shalt not back out of a boat trip within the time window stated on the event page.
  • Thou shalt still make good on the boat fee if thou backs out of a boat trip IN AN UNTIMELY MANNER... whatever thy reason be.
  • Thou shalt not sign up for a Wait List unless thou is 100% ready to assume a spot on the "Yes" list should some Knave back out.
  • If a loutish knave "no-calls, no-shows" his spot may be gifted upon another member 20 minutes after stated arrival time. The no-showing Knave shall accept this arrangement with good humor and understanding.
  • Thou shalt read ALL the directions on the event page in order to avoidest putting thy foot in thy mouth.

So say we all.

===================================

ADDENDUM: I'm sometimes asked, "Why is there no Wait List?" Answer: Our web host has decided, in their infinite wisdom, to do away with Wait Lists for events requiring payment. Entrance to an event needing payment requires a person to perform a Paypal transaction, so it makes a small bit of sense that people ought not be jammed automatically onto the Yes List.
