(DON'T FORGET OUR 'MANE' EVENT— EXPEDITION 2 (http://www.meetup.com/SeaBronies/events/227805188/)!)
We don't have the resources to offer two cruises in a year (yet— remember to help us out on our Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/seabronies?ty=h)!), but we wanted to make sure we offered something amazing as an alternate for those who cannot make our cruise! (Please note: This event WILL NOT feature any Guests of Honor, though expect to bump elbows with a few #horsefamous folks!)
And what can be more amazing than a visit to DISNEY WORLD? We have the answer: A visit to Disney World with ponies! This trip would feature four amazing days at Disney World (though if you can't afford tickets for four, you can join us early or late!), enough to take in one of each of the "big three" parks (Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios), plus one other park of the group's choosing. Our tour will be led by seasoned SeaBronies staffers with dozens of Disney trips under their belts— we have several Central Florida natives on board. We know all the good spots!
But since we're SeaBronies, nautical fun will definitely be on offer! The trip will include a one-day group sailing aboard Victory Casino Cruises (http://victorycasinocruises.com/about-us), launching from Port Canaveral! Admission to this fun daily voyage is just $13— they're counting on you betting lots of money. (If you don't— you can still enjoy the food, drinks, and the bracing sea air!) Onboard dining is $15 purchased in advance, $17.50 purchased on the ship. We have cruised with these guys a number of times, and it's always a good time. And the prices can't be beat!
Pending availability, after we return to port, we may take a quick trip over to Kennedy Space Center (https://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/information.aspx), less than half an hour away.
Our four Disney days won't be bereft of watery fun either! We will rent one or more 10-person Sun Tracker pontoon boats (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/recreation/motorized-boats/) and engage in a leisurely cruise of the many waterways cris-crossing Disney World itself. This is always a treat!
Pending availability, we may also arrange for a brief group trip aboard the Liberty Belle (http://www.disneyparkhistory.com/liberty-belle.html), Disney's amazing recreation of a Mississippi River steamboat!
Please note that all excursions on this trip are optional. If you can afford only one day at Disney, we will work with you to ensure you can meet up with the group in the morning. If you wish to take only 3 of the 4 days at Disney, that's also alright! But no matter what, this trip IS happening— rain or shine, with 3 people or 30!
As this trip does not involve any group expenses (besides taxis/Lyft/Ubers, which will be negotiated by the group at the point of purchase), there are NO DUES. Pre-purchase of Disney tickets is advised but NOT NECESSARY; you can purchase them at the gate. (Advance prices are likely lower!)
We will be organizing group members in this thread to facilitate group hotel rates and room shares to keep costs down.
Incidentally, how did we choose these dates? Simple: They fall within the date range that would have been allocated for our runner-up cruise choice from this year's vote (http://seabronies.com/vote)!
If the response to this event is large enough, this may turn into a yearly event: "West Coast" voting years (like 2016) will feature an East Coast Disney excursion (to Disney World), and "East Coast" voting years (like 2017) will feature a West Coast Disney excursion (to Disneyland).
