ARRIVAL: by 7:50am please. Walkabout begins promptly at 8:00am.

PARKING: In the Oaklands Town Forest Lot (free), or in the Private Lot ~150 yards up the hill just before the RT 101 on-ramp (free). My Black Ford Edge SUV will be parked at the entrance to the Private Lot.

WALKABOUT: modified Hillzilla/Red Loop Trail; ~3.5+ miles; ~2.5 hours +/-, depending on trail conditions. Up and down hills throughout the woods in a good deal of single file formation.

Alltrails.com rating: "Moderate".
Walkabout includes moderate inclines, hills and elevation changes. More than less technical terrain; rocky and root covered trails; loose gravel on inclines; narrow paths.

Participants should be comfortable (have experience) covering ~3.5+ miles over the course ~2.5 hours +/- on Moderate Terrain AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, allowing for occasional stops to view the scenery/water & snack break/etc.

*We will walkabout a modified loop tailored to trail conditions/timing.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Winter - trails have dead leave cover over stones, rocks & roots; may have some standing water, mud, ice and/or snow.
Weather Conditions: Winter - check weather 12-18 hours prior to event.
*inclement weather MAY cancel event; would make decision with at least 18 hour advance notice.

PREPAREDNESS:
1. Physically fit to meet demands of length and duration of walkabout.
{Moderate Hike, Moderate Trail Conditions, Moderate Length}
2. Proper attire to be comfortable in weather forecast conditions.
{Hat, coat, gloves & water proof boots with good traction}
{Trekking poles suggested; footwear traction and carry-pack (optional}
3. Proper nourishment
{Water required, suggested 2.5 - 3 liters +/-; Snacks optional}
4. No "comfort stations" available; carry in/carry out requirement on all trash.
