Zombie Penguin Plunge

  • Feb 2, 2014 · 11:15 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

For the third year in a row, Ken has gotten us access to photograph this photogenic event and good cause, and share the photos with the organization.

The Plunge is a fundraising event that benefits Special Olympics New Hampshire. Participants (Plungers) raise funds to run (Plunge) into the ice-cold Atlantic Ocean at Hampton Beach.

Plungers are encouraged to dress up and make the most of this event, where people willingly plunge into icy waters for a good cause. Every year has a theme, and this year, it's ZOMBIES!

A total of 12 photographers will be in our group.  Meet Ken in front of the bandstand at Hampton beach at 11:15am.  The parade starts at 11:30, we can photograph the parade and will be given access to the plungers for their run into the Atlantic ocean at noon.

It is important to not interfere with the plungers entering and exiting the water.  Please be aware that we are guests of the NH Special Olympics.  If you have any questions please ask here.  There will be a limited amount of photographers from the Seacoast Photographers group and the CAPE Ann group.

Please note:

  • If you don't use your full name as your meetup name, make sure to complete the questionnaire with your full name - Ken needs to provide this information to the organizers ahead of time.
  • This special limited access is being provided to our group, thanks to Ken's work with the organizers. If you sign up - SHOW UP! Don't take away a spot from someone else because you get a better offer at the last minute.
  • Your participation means you agree to share your images with the organization at no charge and without stipulation.

Maybe I missed it but how do we export the photos? Do they go to this meet-up site or some other location. Is there a size and file type requirement or limitation? Can we leave our signature/logo on the photos?

A change this year. Pick up your wristbands at the info center across from the casino. Tell them you are with meetup group.

Anyone who signs up please message me with full name. The SONH organization asked for the name list. Also, when the photos are done that asked that we let them have copies of our best photos. 10-20 of each photographers best.

A heads up...if you have rain selves for you gear, bring it. Fair chance of showers.

I do not have rain sleeves....I shall hope and pray that the sun shines longer into the day or that the clouds come another day.

Use a plastic trash bag; they are less expensive than a rain sleeves or new camera

I went over to the beach this morning to shoot some sponsor and "B Roll" shots. I have my watermark on them but will remove them from the ones presented for our project. here is a link. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.802617963089149.1073741850.230670270283924&type=1&l=16b183231f

When I spoke with the Special Olympics rep she mentioned that should would like more than snapshots of fund raisers running into the water. Consider photographing this as a complete event. Start your photography with the preparation of the event all the through to the end. The are many volunteers and lots of preparation to the Plunge, challenge yourself to photograph this event fully.
