Join us as we explore Portland Museum of Art's exhibit on Richard Avedon portraits. Avedon is one of my personal photography heroes, and Portland is a mecca of fine and fun food & music. The exhibit runs throughout the first half of 2019.
This date is tentative while this message is up. It was chosen because Fridays from 4-8pm are free add we NH folk are a thrifty bunch. If a more suitable weekend date with rail travel opens up, this date may change.
This exhibition showcases 12 photographic portraits and three triptychs of celebrated individuals by the iconic American photographer Richard Avedon [masked]). Primarily a fashion photographer whose images played an influential role in defining America’s image of style, beauty, and culture, these portraits suggest his disillusionment with commercial work and his quest to portray the likeness of the sitter.
