Angel Investing has a lot of unknowns and a significant amount of art to it. One of the great ways to learn about how to make successful Angel Investment deals is to learn from others who have made deals and see what went well and what did not go well.
Bonnie Beeman, Lee Otis, and Ryan Porter are all Seattle Angel Conference alums and currently active in the angel community in Seattle. Come hear about how they got started in angel investing and the lessons they've learned along the way. The discussion will be moderated by Bryan Brewer, founder of Funding Quest.
LEE OTIS (Panelist)
Lee Otis has lived in Seattle for 27 years and has two young adult daughters. She served as an Environmental Scientist with the US EPA for 15 yrs and is serious about impact investing. She is an alum of the SAC XIII panel of investors and is also active as a member of E8 formerly Element 8. Angel investors with E8 focuses on Clean Technology startups. For the past 10 years she has been involved in the Startup community helping with development efforts and geospatial analysis. She is currently advising UW Clean Energy Test Beds and I5Lid on development efforts. She is also the Business Director for Palador a custom software development firm in Seattle. She has a Bachelors in Geology and a Masters in Environmental Science.
RYAN PORTER (Panelist)
Ryan Porter is a software engineer who develops and runs a semi-automated stock trading system with his brother, Eric. He holds a B.S. from M.I.T. and a Ph.D. from Stanford, both in Computer Science. He started angel investing through the Seattle Angel Conference, and now invests with SeaChange and Grubstakes.

Bonnie Beeman is CEO & Founder of Wearable Xlabs Inc., an MIT startup headquartered in Seattle Washington. She works with a team of wireless and broadcast TV experts, who have invented and patented smartphones and smartphone accessories that capture free UHF and VHF live digital television around the globe.
As an accredited Angel Investor, Bonnie provides executive outreach for a few select startups assisting them with raising capital, financial due diligence, corporate governance, and mentoring.
BRYAN BREWER (Moderator)
Bryan Brewer, founder of Funding Quest, provides educational, consulting, and coaching services to early stage entrepreneurs seeking angel funding. His services include helping with fundability assessments, funding strategies, financial modeling, business plan development, and investor pitch coaching. Since beginning this work in 2001, Bryan has helped his clients raise more than $100 million in angel funding. Bryan has served as the Executive Director of Keiretsu Forum Academy, Northwest Region, managing the delivery of educational programs for entrepreneurs and investors, including the four-day Building a Fundable Company program.
