Do you shoot film? What do you love about it?

I do shoot film! I am a film nut. Though you might not expect it. I only shoot one camera, one lens and one film. See below! However, I love film for its unique look and emotion it adds to the moment. I don't believe you can re-create it with digital, but that's open for discussion in our Meetups! ;)

What's your favorite film-camera-lens combination and why?

I shoot a very limited setup. I have only one camera, one lens and one film – a Leica M7 with a Leica Summicron 35mm f/2 attached, loaded with Kodak Tri-X 400. I love the mechanics and feel of the Leica M series, and the history that comes with a 42-year-old lens; and I just can't get enough of that Tri-X look!

What do you hope to get out of this Meetup?

I want to hear about others' experience with film photography; learn from them, and help others along the way.

Hey! I'm Erik – the organizer for the Seattle Film Photographers group. I am a web designer by trade, but my passion lies in photography. I've got lots to learn, lots to share and look forward to meeting you all.
