If you are wanting some beginner friendly biking, this is a good place to start. I would be happy to help anyone who wants tips, or just wants to get comfortable on a bike. I love riding, and talking about bikes.
It is a beginner friendly route, with only a gradual climb, and no complicated route. We can ride the route at your pace until you get comfortable. If you are looking for a more advanced ride, try the HTFU ride with Tai.
The route is mostly just around Green Lake, using city streets. Distance is about 5.2 kilometers, or 3.25 miles, and takes around 13 minutes per lap, more or less. We usually end up doing 3-4 laps, depending on pace.
For more of a workout, the hill on the back side can be used to do some interval training. The rest of the route can be used to train the legs to make power in the tuck if you have a tri specific bike.
If you want to turn this into a brick workout, and join me for the 9 AM run, great. Our sister group, the Green Lake Running Group, does a 9 A.M. run at the Green Lake Bath House parking lot. Just be aware that there were some vehicle break ins at the Bath House parking lot last year. I would recommend parking in the neighborhood, and locking your bike well while you run.
We will meet at 7:45 AM in the parking lot for a safety talk, wheels down at 8AM. Please bring all appropriate gear including a helmet. Rain cancels. I will post a cancellation notice by 8 PM Friday.
If you are a paid group member, you only have to sign the waiver once per year, and you get the benefit of the insurance. Non paid members, please sign the waiver online here, so I don’t have to make you sign a paper waiver. Last minute online RSVPS will have to sign a paper waiver as well, so please sign early if possible.
Link below works for paid and non paid members. Paid members have to log in first.
