Ironman 70.3 Canada Virtual Bike Preview
If you are doing the 70.3 Canada Ironman Race, this is a great way to preview the elevation of the course. If you are doing any long course this year, this is a great way to practice your nutrition and hydration plan. You do have one, right? If you are doing STP, or RSVP, join us, and get in a long practice ride.
The ride is at Sound Training and Racing’s studio, which has 10 indoor bike trainers connected to a computer. They are variable resistance trainers, so when the computer sees you getting to a hill on the course, the resistance increases. All kinds of data is recorded. Power, cadence, calories, and much much more.
Cost is $60. Bring everything you would bring on race day, including a spare tube, except a helmet. A trainer tire is better than a road tire. Don’t forget a lower geared cassette for the hilly courses. expect to spend anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours on the bike.
Peter does a great job with course specific, and general, racing tips. I have done several of these virtual rides. While they are hard, they are a great training prep for long course races.
Start time is 9 am, June 22nd. As it takes about 15 minutes to get the bike set up on the trainer and warmed up, please arrive early enough to allow proper setup.
