Wednesday Night Run @ the Trailhead!

Welcome,  Seattle folks and visitors!

Join us for one of our rotating four-mile running routes! All paces are welcome! Hosts Andrew, Logan, and Patrick always make sure that everyone arrives safely back to port.  If you're in the mood for something a little shorter, all of the routes have a shortcut option. Check out our "subway map" below that shows all of the routes, and read the comments for this week's route.

The Meetup is at 5:15pm, inside the Brooks Trailhead store at 3400 Stone Way in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. Andrew will greet and introduce new folks, Patrick will describe the route, and then we'll take a group photo. We usually start running around 5:30pm.

For our runs November through February, it will be dark, so remember to bring reflective gear and lights.

Every week, no matter what, we'll always hang out and socialize afterward! Occasionally, there will be other post-run presentations or activities at the store.

If you have stuff, lockers with locks are provided in the store. Water and towels are available when you get back.

Hello, this will be my first run with sglrg. How long is the route typically and is there anything I need to bring other than myself?!

Welcome! You should bring a light and reflective gear if you have it. Our runs are generally around 4 miles and Patrick generally has modifications if you want something shorter.

It's time for North Queen Anne, and there are two things you should know about this run:
    1) it's my favorite route. 2) it's hilly.
    . .
    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6577538
(3.7 miles, 450 feet of elevation gain)
    . .
Why's it my favorite? It goes along the ship canal, it crosses the Fremont Bridge, it goes through a wooded park, it goes by a peaceful cemetery, it sneaks through some nice residential neighborhoods, and it wanders through a pretty college campus! (Yeah, it's also hilly)
    . .
If you're looking for something shorter and less hilly, we have a shortcut route option that's only 2.5 miles long with 130 feet of elevation gain.
    . .
Turn-by-turn directions in the replies to this comment!

      1) BURKE-GILMAN west to the FREMONT BRIDGE. Take the 2nd set of stairs up the bridge.
      . .
      2) Cross the bridge and turn right on FLORENTIA. Wait to cross the light at Nickerson.
      . .
      3) Continue on Florentia for about 0.5 mile and turn left on 1ST AVE WEST (not 1st Ave N, which we'll cross first).
      . .
      4) Run up the first big hill for 3 blocks. At the 3rd block, turn right into the park, then follow the wide path back downhill toward the track.
      . .
      5) At the track, cross 3RD AVE and continue downhill and turn left on BARRETT.
      . .
      6) Follow BARRETT up the hill, then along the cemetery, and a few more blocks until 10TH AVE & BARRETT, where we'll stop for high fives and a photo break.
      . .
      (continued in next comment)

      7) Follow the group through the sneaky pedestrian passageways and through SPU's campus, eventually ending up at 3RD AVE & NICKERSON (see route map for specifics)
      . .
      8) Stay on 3rd Ave as you cross Nickerson, and turn right on the SOUTH CANAL TRAIL. Take this trail back to the FREMONT BRIDGE, then back to Brooks!
