We'll go through a few examples of what we have deployed as controllers internally at DigitalOcean and then walk through how you'd build one yourself.
7:30 - 8:00 - Simplifying Traffic Management in Kubernetes Across Regions and Cloud Providers - Nate Franzen
You’ve heard the promise of running code across multiple cloud providers and then routing to the fastest, cheapest, and most available cloud at that moment. But how do you actually do it? We'll show you.
We’re going to do a live deployment of a Kubernetes cluster failing over between AWS and Digital Ocean in just 15 minutes. The tools we’ll use are Kubernetes, the open source Cloudflare Ingress Controller, and Stackpoint.io.
We'll also show how to add networking and access rules to affect traffic across both clouds and how to use encrypted HTTP tunneling to streamline service discovery, security, and configuration.
The goal is to illustrate how organizations can quickly and easily bring multiple clusters online across cloud providers, configure secure communications, & enable advanced functionality like a global ingress endpoint, traffic shifting based upon request latency, & so on.
