I’m so glad to hear your group is planning to come! Lydia Friday Setup - 0800 to 1700 This is ideal for people that want to experience what it's like setting up a MASSIVE event. You will be assisting our production team, our design team, our vendors and most all of the wonderful organizations we are working with in their preparation for the event. This is fast-paced, creative, and often times hilariously fun work, and allows you to get to know your fellow volunteers, as well as the organizations you are assisting. Since this scope of work relies heavily on logistics, we would kindly request a minimum of four hour shifts. - Friday Green Tie Gala - 1600 to 2300 The Friday evening event is going to be green and glamourous. It includes performance by The Seattle Symphony, Grammy award winner John Proulx, and The Michael Benson Band. Volunteers during this shift will assist in ushering guests, greeting guests, general cleanliness and tidiness of the grounds, setup and final touches of the dining tent/tableware/etc., and other duties as deemed necessary. This team will also assist in the decoration of the tent, which will be designed to effect a sense of "the arboretum indoors". This event is more suited for volunteers who fancy white gloves and black ties, it will demonstrate the high level of detail and efficacy that goes into hosting a black tie gala, as well as allow interaction with some of Seattle's "Big Players", in terms of both socioeconomic and not for profit/philanthropic stature. - Saturday Grand Opening of Lake Union Park- 0600 to 2100 This is the Main Event. Volunteers here will experience a myriad of possible ways to lend their time and expertise. Boat Building, Kids Tent Assistant, Parking Director, Information Guru, Roamer, Floater, Trash Police, Runner, Coloring Sheet Supervisor, Salmon Shuffler, Plane Watcher, Historical Boat Liaison, the list goes on and on. This is where we will need the bulk of our staff, and is also where you will get to interact with thousands of Seattle's kids, families, teens, tweens, seniors, and everyone in between. This is the most exciting day, as it is filled with scores of fun and highly entertaining positions. We request volunteers to dedicate a six hour block of time if possible, but we will be happy to work around your schedules if not. - Sunday Teardown - 0730 to 1700 This is where we make it all disappear. There will be a typhoon of activity, and it will be up to us to coordinate it into assembly line-smoothness. Volunteers will help with follow-up, load-out coordination, assistance in load-out, final sweeping of the grounds, and the Ultimate close-out party (which we will all be able to attend). This is akin to the Friday setup shift, only we are instead taking everything away. It is extremely fast paced and fun, and offers the best chance to meet other volunteers and the organization leaders that participated in the event. It is also a great way to see what happens after an event, and the breathtaking swiftness in which large event infrastructures are taken down. This position is crucial to every future event planner, logistics coordinator, concert planner, party thrower, and is best for high energy, highly motivated people that love to take charge and get any job done well.
