7 people went

Let's do a solstice evening paddle from Enatai Beach to the 72nd Ave. SE street-end landing on Mercer Island. We'll catch a TGIT beverage and bite at the nearby Roanoke Inn, then paddle back to Enatai Beach.

Sign-up Requirements:

This is a 5 nautical-mile paddle that will be subject to wind waves and boat wakes. Lake Washington can be quite wavy, especially with the typical evening north wind.

To sign up for this paddle, you need to be an advanced novice or beyond paddler, with re-entry and rescue training, skills and practice, and you must be able to paddle at 2.5 knots pace. The required kayaking experience and skills need to be documented in your meetup-profile information and your answers to the sign-up questions. RSVP's without answers to the sign-up questions will be deleted.

Schedule and Itinerary:

5:00 p.m. - arrive, off-load and park at Enatai Beach under I-90 in South Bellevue.

5:45 p.m. - launch and paddle to Mercer Island.

~ 6:45 p.m. - beach at the 72nd Ave. SE street-end grass-strip (2.5 n.m.), secure our kayaks, and walk to the nearby Roanoke Inn for a TGIT beverage and light bite (... good clam chowder? fish tacos? ...?).

~ 8:00 p.m. - launch and paddle back to Enatai Beach (2.5 n.m.).

~ 9:00 p.m. - arrive back at Enatai Beach.

Conditions and Contingency:

This paddle is contingent upon reasonably safe wind and weather conditions.

Equipment Requirements:

Kayak, paddle, pfd, paddlefloat, pump, sprayskirt, sunglasses, sunscreen, water and snacks, waterproof paddle jacket and hat, VHF radio if you have one (Channel 68), immersion gear, boat light. Extra change of warm clothes in a dry-bag. If you have a bicycle lock-up cable and a padlock, bring them.

Immersion Gear:

Bringing immersion gear (drysuit or wetsuit) along is mandatory for this paddle. Whether wearing the immersion gear is required will be decided at paddle-time, depending upon conditions and paddle-party capability.
