Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Area Sea Kayaking Meetup Group!

What: Circumnavigation of Mercer Island

When: Wednesday, May 5,[masked]:30 AM

Where:
Enatai Beach Park
[masked]th Ave SE
Bellevue, WA 98004
(425)[masked]

Wednesday should be nice weather, so let's spend it on the water and get some exercise!

This trip is a day-long paddle around Mercer Island. Total distance is about 15 miles and will probably involve 5 hours of paddling. We will start and finish at Enatai Beach Park in Bellevue. We will stop briefly along the trip for brown-bag lunch.

Rating: This trip is rated ?semi-exposed? or SK2. The route is susceptible to winds out of the North or South. Participants must have their own kayak and all of their own gear. Because of the water temperature a wet suit or dry suit is required. Paddlers must have experience with paddling long distances at a steady 3mph in windy conditions.

What to bring:
  • Kayak, paddle, Paddle Float and Bilge Pump.
  • PFD, Dry or Wet Suit, Clothes for paddling, Kayak Shoes
  • Change of clothes for after, towel.
  • Food and Water for lunch.
  • Sun Screen, Rain Hat

Directions to the meeting place: From Seattle take I-90 East. Exit junction 9 (Bellevue Way SE). Turn Left on SE 30th Street, which is the first left turn you can take after the median ends. This road becomes 113th Ave SE, then SE 34th Street. Follow it to the junction with 108th Ave SE, then turn left and immediately right into the parking lot for Enatai Beach Park.

Similarly from I-90 Westbound exit junction 9 (Bellevue Way SE) and follow the directions above.

    Martin.
