High-end kayak to rent?

From: Jeff C.

Hi Saul,
I'm new to the meetup group and haven't yet participated in an event, but I'm planning to soon. The BBQ looks like fun, but I may be out on a day trip of my own tomorrow.

I'm wondering if you happen to know anyone with a higher-end boat (such as Valley Nordkapp) who would be willing to rent their boat? I occasionally guide trips and am leading a to the Gulf Islands next Thursday through Sunday. One person on the trip would like to rent a single. He is an experienced kayaker who paddles a Valley Nordkapp (in Wisconsin), is 5' 4" and would like to paddle a Valley or something like it (no rudder, fits smaller kayaker, responsive, no rudder (tracks well), etc.).

Meetup Description: Hey it's spring and time for a paddle and BBQ.
I've moved back from San Diego, I'm back in Seattle, I'll be back from the bike camping trip on Whidbey, so it's time for a Paddle, BBQ and a bit of dancing.

We'll have loaner kayaks replete with life jackets and paddles for about 26 people. I will bump up the RSVP count to allow anyone who is bringing their own kayak to join us. I am cross posting this to three other groups as well. Seattle Sea Kayaking, Seattle Outdoor Adventures, Seattle Get Up and Get Out, Human Powered Touring, so if it's full and you want a spot, you can RSVP on one of those.

I could use help loading boats at about 4:30 at my house so email me [address removed] if you can help.

We will put in at Tracy Owens Park also known as Logboom Park in Kenmore. It's just below the intersection of Hwy 522 and 61st Ave NE.

We'll go over some safety stuff and then head out for a paddle to get to know each other, see some wildlife (beaver, turtle, blue herons, etc.) Paddling makes you hungry so we'll have a potluck BBQ afterwards.

What to bring:
o Prepare to get wet, You might want to bring a towel and change of clothes.
o Water bottle. There's water and restrooms at the park.
o Refreshments and snacks for afterwards
o Your sense of adventure and fun
o Headlamp if you have one - for paddling back after dark if the group decides they want to. Might come in handy for the BBQ too.

In the RSVP let me know if you need to borrow a boat or if you'll be bringing your own.

I will be doing some boat repairs prior to the paddle to address the listed problems.

So far I am bringing kayaks for the following people - if you need to borrow and don't see your name on the list - add "need to borrow" to your RSVP and make sure your RSVP is a "Yes". Here are the boat assignments so far. I did not assign any kayaks to Maybe's. I still have 3 kayaks left, so if you're a maybe and you need to borrow then you need to change your RSVP ASAP. You also need to show up otherwise you can't borrow a boat from me in the future.

I updated the list of kayakers to account for changes in RSVP's and for the additional kayaks that I am managing to borrow from a friend of mine. since this event is posted in 4 different groups, I also added notation indicating which group each person was from so that I could ensure that I didn't miss anyone who has a similar name to someone in another group. We have about 40 people overall that are coming, with about a dozen bringing their own kayaks and the rest of you borrowing from me (or Dave).

Please make sure that if you're borrowing that your name is on the list, I've pasted a copy below:

updated the list of who gets a kayak - I also removed those of you that had a spot
in one group from the waiting lists in multiple groups as it was getting confusing
for me.

Name Kayak
x Saul Necky Orange Single SSK
x Coleen Necky Arluk Single SSK

See you at 5:00 or if you can help load kayaks at my house then I'll see you at around 4:30 for loading (call or email me if you can assist with loading).

Thanks - Saul
If you decide not to show up, please email me, or change your RSVP or even phone me at least 3 hours before the launch. No shows for borrowed boats are a headache since that means we delay launch while someone drives the empty boat(s) back to my house - can't leave them on the trailer or they may find a new home while we're out paddling, and towing empty boats while we paddle isn't that much fun.

I'm sure all of you will have a fun paddle.
