I just posted my list to the Ouya thread in the forums. Feel free to add to the list and I'll pass along:

That's pretty much what I was assuming. It's kind of a leap of faith. :)

Plus the 360 gamepad is pretty nice to use for now.

    July 30, 2012

  • Alex H.

I'm certain they will! I'm just using a Microsoft gamepad for now. I mean...if you're already putting your faith in a android gaming console on kickstarter, you might as well have faith that you can use their controller!

The one thing I have noticed in the Unity API reference is that Android doesn't have access to a gamepad. Do you know if Ouya's toolkit or Unity's roadmap will add that?

    July 30, 2012

  • Alex H.

I'm working on an Ouya-targeted game too - I can certainly add some suggestions to the list!

    July 30, 2012

  • Alberto F.

I'm going to be developing a 2d game for the Ouya in Unity. I'm in touch with Julie and she said they'll be developing some plugins for Unity and asked what we'd find most helpful. I'm putting together a list of ideas so I'd be happy to pass along any suggestions from the group in my response.

The CEO was speaking at IGDA Summit last Tue. Since it's Android based, shouldn't it be fairly similar to developing for Andoird phones/tablets with Unity3D? btw OUYA discussion on the forum here ;) http://www.meetup.com/Seattle-Unity3D/messages/boards/thread/25017292

Oooh according to the new update on the kickstarter, we'll be able to access OnLive on the Ouya!

Is anyone else here thinking of developing on it? Has anyone got in contact with them yet?

    July 30, 2012

  • Brandon W.

OnLive is actually really fast to launch a game - it's streaming so you only download a small client app and can get started playing within minutes. You can actually try most games for 30 minutes. This was the only way for me to play any AAA titles on my laptop ;)

Awesome, if you ever talk to the guy push him to give a presentation. Someone said he was local. Price is right, heard speculation that downloading games was too slow but I'd probably check it out if he explained how it interfaces with Unity. Like what format the games are, for one. It doesn't mention OS.

What was that other console given out with the licenses? OnLive?

Great to see the Unity devs dropping in to talk about their labor of love. I look forward to seeing what's possible with Unity 4, and getting more social at the next meetup.

A good meetup with a decent amount of both old and new information. Looking forward to some of the new features!

I thought Carl's presentation was awesome. Hit really got to meat and potatoes when he discussed how to take a Maya model and rig and bring into Unity. Better yet, he showed just how easy it is. I will be choosing Unity + Maya to make my game. Loved it! Get Carl to come again please and dive deeper into the Unity game development pipeline for n00bs like me.

Thanks for getting this set up, Brandon!

Great presentation, didn't get to stay as long as I'd like, but I'm getting a little closer to the "dead" part of my current deadline than I'd like!

Great and informative. 4.0 looks fantastic! Thanks to all involved!

Had a great time! I wish I could have hung around a little longer, but it was great seeing so many people there!

Wish I could of made it. Really wanted to see the demo.

The prezo will probably be done by 9pm, and we can stay until 10pm I believe to mingle/network!

Does anyone know roughly how long the event will last?

Looks like some tough competition for a Unity 4.0 seat. :) I am looking forward to a preview of what the future holds! Is there a number to call to get into the building?

    July 23, 2012

  • Brandon W.

No problem! Make sure to bring plenty of questions to make the most out of it, and tell all your friends to come! ;D

This is going to rock! Thanks for posting this, Brandon!
