Early Morning Writing Session at Avasta Press

Come join other early risers for a writing session at the Avasta Press Wheelhouse in Ballard.

Familiar with Julia Cameron's The Artist Way? In this wonderful workbook for artists, Julia offers the morning pages practice as a tool for creative recovery.

As Julia describes morning pages...

"Morning Pages are three pages of longhand, stream of consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning. *There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages*– they are not high art. They are not even “writing.” They are about anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes only. Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritize and synchronize the day at hand. Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put three pages of anything on the page…and then do three more pages tomorrow."

In this weekly writing session, you may work on your writing pages, or anything else you wish. A writing prompt will be provided for those that wish for a little spark to get going.

We write until 8:45, then have 15 minutes for reading aloud (if desired). This writing session is held in the working office of a press, so we must end as close to 9am as possible so the Avasta crew may get back to the task of making books!

Coffee and tea provided. Yay!

This event is shared with Seattle Women Writers. All genders welcome. Open to writers of all skill levels.

DOOR CODE: [masked] * (If this doesn't work for you, just buzz #202)

    Hi Meetup folks,
Gloria Steinem and Cheryl Strayed are having a conversation on the Benaroya stage on November 8th. Gloria is introducing her first book in 20 years: "My Life on the Road" and you all may have read "Wild" by Cheryl. (If you haven't, you should really think about doing so. A modern woman's journey and rite of passage. A very raw and amazing memoir.)

I have my ticket. I'm in Aisle C, Orchestra Right, Row EE, Seat 1

There are at least ten seats available beside me right now and I welcome you all to join me. Show's at 7. Tickets are $60.00 and include a copy of Steinem's book.

It was great to get up and get going on my writing day. I polished the piece I wrote and presented to my Write Night writers group that night! It was a very inspiring morning. Thank you Kelsye and thank you to all who were there!

MORNING pages Mark. Hence, the morning part. :-P I considered starting it at 7am, which is when I am usually writing, but I thought that would be cruel. Heh.
