Special DocuTalk:: FRESH Director Ana Sofia Joanes :: Pre-Screening Discussion

Please come to a special edition of DocuTalk and welcome Ana Sofia Joanes for a discussion about her recent film FRESH.
FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. The film will screen later in the evening at
Central Cinema just a couple of blocks away. (FRESH will have showings at Central Cinema 4/30 thru 5/5) Our pre-show discussion will focus on topics relating to the filmmaking and distribution process. (Ana will give a general Q&A after the screening at the theatre).
You are recommended to pre-purchase your tickets for the show later in the evening. If you're coming from NE Seattle: note that the Montlake bridge will be closed till 4:00 due to the Windermere Cup crew race. Ana was interviewed about the film for an article in the Huffington Post last year. Read it
911 Seattle Media Arts Center is hosting the event in partnership with
Seattle Film Institute. Ana was born in Portugal and grew up in Switzerland. Following a travel-abroad program exploring the impact of globalization on the environment and culture, Ana came to the U.S. to study. After a BA in political science from Barnard college, Ana graduated from Columbia Law School, where she was awarded as a Stone Scholar and Human Rights Fellow. Before dedicating herself to filmmaking, Ana founded Reel Youth, Inc., a video production program for youth coming out of detention, and other under-served youth. Her first documentary, Generation Meds, explored our fears and misgivings about mental illness and medication. Please note the day and time. DocuTalk normally meets on the fourth Sunday of every month at 7:00pm.

Ana was a real treat to have. She was very gracious and articulate in sharing the details of her journey to make and distribute her film "Fresh".
