*** FAQ last updated May 16, 2020 ***

Q. Why was my in-person event suspended?

A. As of March 16, 2020, Meetup is advising that all events go online until notified otherwise.

• Meetup event policies and the coronavirus (COVID-19)
https://help.meetup.com/hc/en-us/articles/3 ...

If your figure drawing session was suspended and it is going to take place online, please update your event, stating that it will be online and provide instructions on how to join.

Q. Why is our Figure Drawing group now "International"?

A. While we wait to return to in-person drawing sessions, we invited models, teachers, and organizations who are already offering online drawing sessions to share their resources. Many are outside Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and the US.

All our members (artists, models, organizers) are welcome to host online drawing sessions, see below to get started. We have over 17,600 member-artists between The Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle Figure drawing groups. You can offer your online sessions to all three groups at once.

We want to help keep our artists drawing, our organizers hosting, and our models posing!

Q. How do I get started offering online drawing sessions?

A. Join one or all:

• Los Angeles International Figure Drawing Group

• San Francisco International Figure Drawing Group

• Seattle International Figure Drawing Group

Then contact me (Johnny O'Brady) via a Meetup message. I will make you an organizer, and you can start offering drawing events.

Q. Should the online drawing sessions be offered on a daily or weekly basis? Should they be at a specific time?

A. You can offer the sessions as often as you like, and at any time you want, it's up to you.

Q. How many people, on average, attend sessions?

A. It varies, can't predict.

Q. Does Meetup have its a hosting platform, or can we use other live-streaming platforms?

A. Meetup uses several video conferencing services, including Google Hangouts, Skype, Zoom, Jitsi, and more.

• Instructions to host an online event on Meetup

• Best practices for hosting an online event on Meetup

• Meetup webinar about hosting online events

Q. Should I offer live or pre-recorded drawing sessions?

A. Drawing sessions can be either; it's up to you.

Q. What should I charge for figure drawing sessions?

A. The price is between you and the event attendees. People will sign up if they're interested, and the price is right for them. Some organizers offer a sliding scale.

Q. How do the artists pay, and where?

A. Please see:

• Setting event fees

Q. Are there any free online figure drawing resources?

A. Oxford University kindly shared their free online figure drawing resources with us:

• Life Drawing Live (free) via BBC

• Weekly Video Recorded Modeling Sessions (free) via Croquis Cafe

• Figure Drawing Tutorials (free) via Love Life Drawing

March 14, 2020

Hi everyone. During this COVID-19 pandemic, I am asking our figure drawing groups to use an abundance of caution and refrain from holding sessions.

Thanks for your understanding and wishing good health to all our artists and models.

I welcome your questions or comments; you can contact me through the Meetup contact form.

Keep on drawing!

- Johnny
