The Seattle Daniel Smith store offers Walk-In Life-Drawing Classes each Thursday at 5PM with artist and instructor Jamie Bollenbach (http://jamie.bollenbach.googlepages.com). More than an open session and offering formal instruction when you want it, we will encourage you to draw with a new drive for focused observation. A great way to try a college-level class again without the cost and stress, or just come on by and use your own techniques. The two hour weekly session with our excellent live model is only $15.
We have drawing horses and one easel is available. And I should put a word in for our wonderful model Sara, who is inventive and professional.
We have space for around 12 - artists have clear views. We usually have 30 second poses at the beginning, a 10 and 15 minute pose next, and one or two longer poses until 7PM.
Because it is an instructed class for those who want feedback, but also open to artists who just want the life drawing opportunity, I will often offer suggested techniques for each pose - you're free to use these or try your own technique. The focus is on observation, experimentation, proportional representation, and accurate readings of light and dark - but as a strong visual grammar for all kinds of visual art.
