    • What we'll do One of our members is an engineer for penn cove shellfish. Come taste world famous mussels. This is always a wonderful event. Come join us for the Penn Cove MusselFest—Coupeville’s March tradition. “Bold, briny and blue,” the world famous mussels will be the centerpiece of two days of festivities, including chowder tasting and mussel eating competitions, farm tours and activities for all ages featuring locally-flavored fun. Visitors to the festival, a tradition now in its 32th year, should start at the MusselFest Headquarters, located at the Coupeville Recreation Hall in the heart of historic downtown Coupeville. Visit local restaurants, sample their secret mussel chowder recipes and vote for your favorite. Here they can purchase tickets to the festival favorite Mussel Chowder Tasting Competition, which pits local restaurants against each other for the coveted Mussel Chowder prize. The competition sells out quickly, so organizers recommend that visitors buy their tickets before noon. You walk all over the town to find the competing restaurants. MusselFest Headquarters is also the center for mussel cooking demonstrations, the daily mussel eating competition, and tickets for the mussel farm boat tour. This year, visitors will cruise to the Penn Cove Shellfish mussel farm aboard the Glacier Spirit. Families visiting Coupeville will enjoy singing along with children’s music recording artist Nancy Stewart and enjoying creative activities the kids will love. The merchants of Coupeville’s historic waterfront downtown will offer extended hours for art walk shopping. No festival experience is complete without a stop by the Musselfest beer and wine gardens. The Waterfront Wine & Beer Garden provides locally crafted brews from Flyers Brewery, with nearby family outdoor dining. $25 Transportation to the event and back. • Come try Hakka Cuisine on the Eastside
    • What we'll do The family behind this restaurant arrived here from Hawaii 20 years ago. The dad actually use to cook for me when I was a kid. He is now retired. My personal chef will create more Hakka cuisine for us., or Kuhchia cuisine, is the cooking style of the Hakka people, who originated in the southeastern Chinese provinces of Guangdong and Fujian, but may also be found in other parts of China and in countries with significant overseas Chinese communities. ***What distinguishes Hakka cooking is its amalgamation of almost every other Chinese style -- casseroles and sizzling platters abound, as do stir-fries of various types and spicings. It's heartier than classic Cantonese or Mandarin cuisine; milder than Szechuan; closest to native Formosan cooking, which you never find in the States. Let's get a few things out of the way as a authentic family-style dinner is not for everyone: We will be ordering more Hakka Dishes and their Mochi Duck for our meal. The menu will be set. It will consist of mostly there house specialties and special order will take time to cook. Squeamish, sit this one out. - If you don't want to share food, sit this one out. - If you don't like or can't tolerate spice, sit this one out. - If you're vegetarian, sit this one out. - If you need General Tso's Chicken or anything similar to be comfortable, sit this one out. - If tripe makes you uncomfortable, sit this one out. - If the idea of cold appetizers is repulsive, sit this one out. To those of you who just got more excited reading the above, please join us! Good Friends, Good Food, = A Great Time !! ****FREE PARKING available on the street or parking lot!!! • Come Join Us for a Great Korean Dinner !!
    • What we'll do Another GREAT gem in the heart of Lynnwood! If you're not a fan of fermented food, this event is not for you. They serve one of the best Chungookjang (soybean paste soup) and I have already "favorite d" New Seoul. They do serve other typical dishes you can find elsewhere but this particular soup is made to near-perfection. I have not yet been disappointed. Join me for a hearty meal at New Seoul. • It's on like Sichuan @Spiced in Bellevue
    • What we'll do This is for all our Foodie members. Let's Sweat. Fu Qi Fei Pian! Mao Xue Wang! Shui Zhu Yu! Guo Xiao Mi Xian! The local masters of Sichuan cuisine. This is the "advanced" form and where my friends visiting from China go when they're looking for something close to home. I have had emails and a few others have suggested doing a proper dinner here and that time is upon us. Sichuan food features the spicy flavor mix of "ma," the numbing peppercorns, as well as "la," the traditional chilis. It's a unique treat that anyone who can take the heat should properly experience. As is typical of Chinese cuisine, dishes tend to incorporate all parts of the animal in an environmentally sound fashion to avoid waste. Spiced also offers some Yunnan specialties. Let's get a few things out of the way as a authentic family-style dinner at Spiced is not for everyone: Squeamish, sit this one out. • Come to a Korean BBQ Feast !
    • What we'll do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08z5TjqtmCM Charcoals cooking Korean BBQ! This is the only one in Washington State. Charcoal BBQ is loved for its unique, richly infused smoky flavor. Also the meat stays moist and tender after grilling. Not only it taste amazing, but also there are many health benefits to this method of grilling. It preserves moisture and vital nutrition, such as vitamins. It also helps to reduce fat intake which can help avoid many high cholesterol level related illnesses such as heart disease We will get an assortment of combination of marinated meats which combine servings of soon dubu with a grilled meat like kalbi(short ribs), bulgogi(sliced beef), pork or my personal favorite, whole grilled squid and chicken. I like the Korean experience of the small plate plethora. Banchan is fun to nibble on a variety of dishes. Old Village's are fairly simple as they go, but they use good ingredients and prepare them with competence. The small plates just come along for the ride; you don't order them or have any say over what they will be. That suits me just fine. A bite here, a bite there. Yum. There isn't anything more pleasing than the kim chee in the small plates. They refill them regularly in case you're with someone who eats a lot of east Asian cuisine. With Old Village gruff service, wonderful marinades, and real lump charcoal, it's a decidedly delicious trial by fire (and smoke) and an experience well worth building upon as you gain exposure to and learn more about this fine, unique cuisine. Come join us for a very fun family time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Friends, Good Food, = A Great Time !! ****FREE PARKING available in front of restaurant !!! • Christmas Dinner Orphan Potluck
    • What we'll do Christmas orphans are not little Timmy. It's folks who just don't happen to have any family that live here in town, and would like to share christmas dinner with a few others. And hey! Even if you do have a few family here in town, but don't want to cook EVERYTHING, and want to come share christmas with others this is the event for all of you. I will provide the ham. Your mission, should you choose to accept it (as in, come to the potluck) is to bring something that EVERYONE talks about. Whether it's your 14th times removed great grandmothers recipie for mashed potatoes, or whether it's from a cute little bakery that makes this thing that noone knows about thats amazing. The goal is to share something delicious, delictable and delightful on christmas. And let me be clear, this need not be expensive food, and it need not take you hours to make, but it also needs to not be "a bag of chips from safeway that you buy as an afterthought on the way to the event". This is a time to bring your A game. As a side note, we have 2 ovens here to warm food if thats needed. **Or Beer or RED wine encouraged !! We will open the doors at 4:00PM, and this means that there will probably be enough food on the table by 5:00PM to begin the overeating that is the american tradition of a potluck! (Yes! I have a sense of humor about this.) Depending on the weather, we will either light the fireplace or the outdoor firepit, and we have plenty of wood. Since this is Christmas dinner, I will be providing real plates, and real forks, and so I ask that everyone be prepared to wash your own dishes. As a note, the last few times I have had potlucks I have done this, and people have been very burning man leave no trace excellent about it, and I want to thank you all for this in advance. Since I didn't have to spend an entire day cleaning the house afterwards, I'm SO much more likely to keep doing this again (and while I don't know that we will have as many folks here as last year (about 60), there is still plenty of room for all! The Dragon House is on the corner of 44th and Brandon in West Seattle. As you arrive, you will be greeted by a 16foot tall dragon that lives RIGHT on the North East corner of the intersection of those two streets. There are also 5 or 6 other large sculptures in the yard, making it a very easy house to find. (If you need the exact address it's:[masked]th Ave SW) Come up past the trampoline and knock on the front door. If you have any trouble finding the place, just give a ring: (206)[masked]. Last year we had people at the house meeting and socializing and eating and conversation, until about 9:00PM. Feel free to bring kids, If they have too much energy, we will task them with climbing on the indoor climbing wall! So, come one, come all, get warm by the fire, and enjoy some good food and good merriment and share christmas with us here at the Dragon house. ***Organizers do not accept any liability for accidents/injuries in connection with the activi • What to bring • Important to know
