HOGJam

REACTOR and HouseOgames have partnered together to put on a monthly Game Jam appropriately titled "HOGjam" for the community. The first one will be 32 hours. We start at 10am on Saturday the 26th of October and run until 6pm on Sunday. We encourage participants to suggest themes for HOGjam by heading on over the the HouseOgames forums http://houseogames.com/forums/ and getting involved under our "Events" topic.

You can register for the HOGjam here http://hogjam.eventbrite.com/

I had a really great time. The 32 hour time frame was bit awkward to work with, as I'm used to 48 hour jams that have space in them for some sleep. It was kind of exhausting to present right after completing the game, it would have been nice to meet later or something (although I realize that's probably not something that can be done easily.)

I hear ya... It was definitely awkward. Just so happened that's what the AT&T Hackathon schedule was, they just didn't say all night ;) Next time we'll either do a 24hr one or a 48 hr one, and we'll have the entire building to spread out in.

I've gotten very little sleep this week, and I don't think I would be able to stay up all night. So I have cancelled my order to allow someone else to take my place.

Sorry to miss this and hope to do it next month.

I'll send out a general email prob tomorrow, but basically, bring what you think you would need. I'd bring laptop, desktop, tablet, whatever it is that will let you utilize your skills inside of the group, or if you plan to go at it alone. There will be some munchies, soda, water, that sort of thing... But if you want something specific, or have allergies, etc, might want to bring whatever will fuel ya.

So, is there any advice on what we should all bring to the event?

Turns out I won't be able to make it with people dragging and nagging me about Halloween parties. But will definitely come next month. Is there a way to give my spot to someone else like Andrew?

No worries, we'll be doing them every month! I allowed everyone on the waitlist to participate already. So he should be good to go. If not, Andrew, register for the waitlist and ping me.

The same weekend there will also be an online game jam: bacongamejam.org/ So why not participate and get two-for-one?

Hi Saili, a game jam is typically a 48 hour-long event where you team up and make a game from scratch. This jam will be 32 hours.

Sound cool! Have you check if their rule aren't conflict with each other?

Sorry I can't make this one. Family stuff is preventing me from doing so right now. :(
