Join IGDA Seattle and Seattle Indies as Anthony Giovannetti, one of the lead developers on the wildly successful Slay the Spire, gives us on an intimate look back at the trials and tribulation of the games' development and launch through early access and it's final release earlier this year.
Developed in Seattle by Mega Crit Games, Slay the Spire is an unlikely success story, passed over by major indie exhibitions, publishers and publications the game still managed to find an audience on Steam that was hungry for its extremely well balanced combination of rogue-like elements with a deck building collectible card game.
Slay the Spire is a truly homegrown hit as it was shown multiple times at the Seattle Indies Show & Tell events and was one of the most talked about games at Seattle Indies eXpo 2017 where the developers received valuable feedback from our community that would help shape the game we've spent countless hours playing since its release.
We are also excited to be hosting our first event at the new venue Copious which exists for audiences and artists who want to workshop, test, play, and explore the abundance of performing arts in the Seattle scene. This is a safe space for arts of all kinds with events that support creatives and opportunities to cultivate our performing arts community.
