Andreas, I have no qualms with this - lets plan on it for next meeting, it
sounds like fun! Will this fit in a 2-hour timespan? The library usually
kicks us out by 9 pm.

Looking forward to learning more about your project. Feel free to email me
at [address removed] if you would like to arrange meetup details.

Cheers,
Ivona

Subject: [RadGameDevs] Greetings; adding topic on short notice

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the meetup group and plan to come to the next meeting.

My question is, if it would be possible to tag-on a meeting topic on
short notice? I am a game researcher (part-time PhD program) and would
like to get some game developers as participants in a little research
project: basically to play a game I made (I'll attach some info below).
Currently I am looking to get some video documentation of this by the
latest mid-February and would love to setup my laptop during the
meeting, get people to play around a bit and record the whole thing on
video. If this seems to much of a hijack of the agenda - no problem.
Maybe some later meet would work or we can network and I meet
individually with folks. But maybe this is an interesting topic for
everyone, so please give me some feedback.

BTW, I am hosting www.xnawiki.com ... plus the research game is all XNA
based which seems to fit well with the group.

Bye now,
Andreas

Looking for Research Participants for PhD Theses into Game Design and
Science

My research in the cross-disciplinary Z_node group at the ZHdK in
Zurich, Switzerland builds on a M.Sc. in Astrophysics (ISAS, Saskatoon,
Canada) and a decade of work experience as software engineer in the
media-art domain, for various DotCom startups and now Microsoft Corp.
The thesis involves Physics in the context of serious games, i.e. video
games with a science learning or research agenda and attempts to advance
the state-of-the-art in game design by proposing new ways of
incorporating Physics into interactive media. For my PhD theses, I plan
to use the practical work (a computer game) in my dissertation by
documenting the feedback from game developers playing the game and
evaluating the game elements. Therefore I am looking for some interested
game designers and programmers with whom I could meet informally to play
a video game. During this time, the game and research background will be
briefly presented after which the participants can play and discuss. The
reactions, questions and suggestions coming from this interaction will
be recorded on video.
