For now the Weekend meetups are going to be an attempt at collaborating with the local universities though everyone is welcome to attend. Locations will for now be between Seattle University and the University of Washington.
Meetups will not necessary be scheduled on a regular basis.
Everyone is welcome to attend, but this group will focus on:
- Players who are learning/beginners
- Players who wish to be social at the tables
- Tonpussen games only (East round only)
- Untimed games
- Relaxed, fun gameplay – focus on improving, not speed of play
For those who have never played, you are welcome to join us! We will have people available to teach and help you learn the game from the ground up.
NOTE! - If you are coming from our Monday meetups, please be prepared to teach at your table. This means, for example, helping winners understand how to score their hand (using tables) and announcing their yaku, rather than you doing it for them.
We want this to be a relaxed, fun, social, and learning experience for everyone.
Please observe the following Rules & Etiquette while playing (https://goo.gl/yXaoef) and Best Practices (https://goo.gl/xe7bnk).
We will be playing according to strict WRC (World Riichi Championship) 2015: https://goo.gl/doJLUD, including these 2017 WRC amendments: https://goo.gl/DjbUaN
There's also an online primer provided by Daina Chiba of the UK (http://riichi.dynaman.net/) covering strategy so you can hit the ground running!
Please see this Resource List, which covers almost everything you'll need to play the game: https://goo.gl/UzUdoB
See you there!
