What: The Book of Job

When: Tuesday, May 18,[masked]:00 PM

Trinity United Methodist Church
2511 Taylor Street NE
Minneapolis, MN 44418

The Book of Job may be the first written book of the Bible, older than Genesis. It has been called the most profound and literary work of the entire Old Testament. The Book of Job is a poetic attempt to do no less than address the problem of evil in the world ?- the problem of reconciling the existence of human suffering and injustice with the existence of a loving and just God.
What insights is the author of the Book of Job trying to convey to us about our human condition? About the role of suffering and despair, temptation, fidelity, and providence? Of human understanding and forgiveness?
And how will religious and non-religious readers agree or disagree about ancient and contemporary perspectives on the story of Job?
SBS Member Lee Snetting will guide SBS attendees? introduction to, readings of, and search for answers about this most mythic of Bible texts -- The Book of Job.
