• Walk Schollenberger
The trail is dry and the ponds are full with water and lots of birds. This is an easy 2 mile unless we want to do it twice. There is an adjoining loop but it my be too wet at places for that one. This trail is very flat around the ponds and runs along the Petaluma River which runs into the bay. Parking is free.

  • Hike Taylor Mountain
this is a moderate 5 mile hike by way of switchbacks up in back to a 1200 foot elevation with wonderful view. Water and pulse art buys a ball and maybe a little snack to eat at the top before I return back. There is a seven dollar park entrance fee or regional park pass.

  • Brush Creek Walk to the Flat Rock Area.
TO FIND THE TRAILHEAD: Head east on Hwy 12, before Mission turn left on Brush Creek Rd. Take the second right onto Jenifer Court. This walk varies from 2.7 to 4 miles as we vary the route. It's mostly flat walking and we follow along Brush Creek and Santa Rosa Creek. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF OUR TYPICAL ROUTE: This can be a tricky walk with various trail entrance and exits. We start at the Jenifer Ct. Trail entrance. The gist of the route is to start by taking a left (north) on the blacktop until we reach Montecito Road. By making an immediate right on Montecito we cross Brush Creek to the opposite side of the trail, then continue our walk by following south along the same portion of Brush Creek on the gravel path. We walk until the path curves slightly left (east) along Austin Creek to the trailhead at Mission. We turn right along Mission to cross Austin Creek and get back on the trail along Austin Creek. Austin Creek flows into Brush Creek as we continue going south until we get to Hwy 12. Following Hwy 12 to the right (west) we cross over Brush Creek and get back on the trail to complete the loop a short distance from where we started. We also do this trail in reverse. If you have never done this walk you might want to print out this instruction in case you decide to split from the group for a shorter walk. Our regular group adds on various additional stretches to the Flat Rock area which is accessed by the trail going under Hwy 12. We can continue along Santa Rosa Creek to include the "Friar Tuck" (remniscent of Sherwood Forest)portion of the walk.

  • Howarth Park loop around Spring Lake
Every week the route varies. We have walkers with varying paces and often the group splits into two groups as the gap widens. New walkers should be fine as long as they stay with one of the splinter groups. If you are unfamiliar with the park try walking it first with a friend. If you decide that you can't keep up with the group, let us know that you are leaving the group and will return to the parking area on your own. We often take the ridge trail which includes a moderately steep beginning and approximately 7 hills along the way. We may do this trail at the beginning or the end. There is an option to walk the regular paved path on one's own if no hills are desired.

  • 4 Mile walk at Shiloh
The 850-acre park in east Windsor has nearly 8 miles of trails for hiking, bicycle and horseback riding. Shiloh Ranch is a rugged landscape in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. The park includes oak woodlands, forests of mixed evergreens, ridges with sweeping views of the Santa Rosa Plain, canyons, rolling hills, a shaded creek, and a pond. The loop trail system allows hikers to create routes of varying lengths and intensity. We usually do a couple of long slow inclines which mixed with the downhill backside results in a 4 mile hike.
