Exploring Krystof's Kieslowski's Dekalog

  • 4 days ago · 8:00 PM
  • Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Station Exit 3

Hey all! This week we're taking a suggestion and watching two parts of Kieslowski's Dekalog

Krystof Kieslowski is a Polish director who is considered one of the greatest humanist and moral filmmakers to ever live. His films dig deep into the moral and interpersonal conflicts that come tear people apart but his characters, no matter their flaws, are always treated with vibrancy and respect.

The Dekalog is his 1988 project for Polish television. Each of the ten episodes is based around one of the Ten Commandments, but instead of simply dramatizing or adapting them, the films attempt to challenge them in the context of the modern world and explore the relationship between society and its rules

We're going to watch the 2nd and 5th pieces. Each is a self contained story, so there's no need to be familiar with the others. They're both just short of an hour long

As always, I'll try to meet people at the station at 8 and walk y'all to the studio. If you're going to be late that's no problem at all, just shoot me a message. I'm excited to see everyone!
