FRENCH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONVERSATION COURSES

Serve the City Paris volunteers offer basic level French and English 'training through conversation' courses for refugees.

During this conversation course, a minimum of 15 instructor volunteers (that's you!) are matched across the table with a minimum of 15 different refugees, to have a conversation in French or English. There will be name tags provided that you will fill out stating which language you can instruct (you can put both French and English). The refugees will also fill out name tags with the language they wish to learn. Every 10 minutes, everyone rotates one seat over to meet someone new and talk French or English. The session lasts 1 hour.

The session will be followed by a community meal from 20h-21h where our conversations can continue! We ask that the volunteers bring a food item such as bread, fruit, cookies or a salad to share with the refugees. *Please do not bring pork/ham as many of the refugees do not eat it.*

You don't have to be a trained language instructor. But we require each volunteer to take at least one of our online SAVE workshops.

For more information, please contact info@servethecity.paris.

The STCP S.A.V.E. Program "Curious Question Workshop"

Online event

Serve The City Paris SAVE Program presents:
Curious Question Workshop

WHERE: On ZOOM: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81650230561

This is the first step of the S.A.V.E Methodology. This workshop is designed for SAVE participants to help understand our passion, objectives and even our limitations in our ability to do social impact, and to make the important decisions for our lives as volunteers.

Ask yourself the Curious Questions before engaging in a volunteer activity, and develop a strong foundation for yourself to create more impact, and to ensure a valuable experience while volunteering.

During this online session, you will start identifying your purpose, freshen up your perspectives, and begin collaborating with like-minded others. We use a « SenseMaking » inspired approach to support you asking great relevant questions on how we can all create an environment that allows us to continuously learn and respond to complex challenges in the world.

The SAVE program is provided to all those who have registered as a volunteer with Serve The City Paris. To become a volunteer at Serve The City Paris, please fill out the registration form or the SAVE Program form here: https://www.servethecity.paris/new-volunteer-page/

What is S.A.V.E. Program?

The S.A.V.E. (Service. Action. Volunteer. Empowerment) program is designed to help us all become better volunteers through both practice and theory. The program consists of monthly online and face to face workshops, volunteer activities and special initiatives in Paris, and events to promote collaboration with like-minded volunteers.

SAVE participants follow a methodology designed to help us find our purpose in volunteering, and how to collaborate and co-exist in a diverse city like Paris.

SAVE participants gain knowledge and insight about the people we serve, our environment, social challenges, and case studies of proven solutions that resulted in change or impact.

Volunteers collaborate and work together on social impact projects and ideas for our own neighborhoods in Paris and beyond. (learn about Capstone Projects: https://save.servethecity.paris/capstone-project/)

Hundreds of Serve the City Volunteers have become SAVE program participants and we encourage all our new volunteers to us and connect with others who want to connect with other volunteers, make change, and make impact

There is no fee to join the S.A.V.E. program, but there is a 10 euro monthly donation to volunteer with Serve The City Paris. These monthly donations are recorded as a tax-free deductible donation, and 100% of the donation goes towards the administration and support of all Serve the City humanitarian programs, activities, courses and expenses related to humanitarian needs.
