Guest Event: Malibu Chumash Pow Wow April 12 and 13th 2014

Chumash Days Powwow Intertribal Gathering. Native Dancers perform their tribal dances in their traditional dress. The dancers and venders are from around the country; plus Native arts and crafts, feast on Native foods, and story telling in the center indoors.

The event is both Saturday April 12 and Sunday April 13.

Saturday 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, Grand Entry at 1:00 pm

Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Grand Entry at 12 noon

Remember: Native time is NOT clock time.

There is NO CHARGE FOR CHUMASH DAYS POWWOW - the 2 day event is held at Bluffs Park across from Pepperdine University:  24250 Pacific Coast Hwy.

Overlooking the ocean -- and it can be either hot - or with a cool wind - dress in layers and bring a sunhat - or umbrella as there is NO SHADE. If you want to be comfortable - bring a camp chair to watch the dancers.

Great event for kids - storytelling in the clubhouse, lots of vendors and the dancers are colorfully dressed in many traditions - the music is non-stop Shaman drumming.

This year's 16th annual Chumash Day Powwow will celebrate Native Americans from all over the country, representing hundreds of tribes who gather at Malibu Bluffs Park.

American Indian Dances at Indian City USA. Circa 1950s - small and authentic gathering - you'll see  a few that are similar at Chumash Days and on a bigger scale.

Native American food (...FRY bread tacos!), craft vendors (jewelry, clothes, drums, flutes, rattles), tribal ceremonies and dances will be a part of the event on both days.

The East Intensive workshop is Saturday April 12th - so we are planning on going on Sunday the 13th - meeting at the food area around noon.  Look forward to seeing you there!

The flyer on the right is from last year 2013 and dates are wrong for 2014.

I'm going on Sat -- early - to be there by 11 am - and looking to Meet Up around 1 pm by the food and bleachers - to watch the dancers... Usually there until late afternoon... Need sun hat or umbrella - no cover.

If you hear music you like - buy it there as it is seldom for sale other places. Love the music, arts and crafts and dancers!!
