Grab your mats and come on over!
The class will last about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The asanas of postures will be grouped to affect different parts of the body and linked with the breath. We will start with warmup movements such as sun salutations, followed by standing and balance movements, then work our way down to the mat with some hip openers. Once we are down on the mat, we will do some back bends, forward folds, twists and an inversion followed by yogic sleep or Savasana. All of the asanas or movements will be linked by the breath. The focus during class will be on the breath and sensations we are experiencing as a result of the posture we are holding at the moment. The class is multi-level and options will be given if anyone is having difficulty with a posture.
This is a karma yoga class. Heart donations encouraged and appreciated, but not required.
About the teacher: Roger was introduced to Yoga in 2002 when a friend suggested yoga might help a painful hip. This led to a regular yoga practice and a desire to become a yoga instructor. Roger studied Ashtanga Yoga under Michelle Dorer on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In the fall of 2009, he attended Integral Yoga Institute’s month long Yoga School in Yogaville, Virginia where he studied Yogic Science and earned a 200-hour Yoga teacher certificate. Roger taught Hatha Vinyasa Yoga on the Outer Banks for five years before moving to St Petersburg Florida in July, 2015. Registered with Yoga Alliance, his classes are multi-level and connect classical hatha yoga postures with the breath.
